Hume City Council is looking for someone experienced in delivering Aquatic Programs to Schools, Clubs and community group programs with the view to enhancing aquatic education and recreation opportunities to the Hume City Council community.
In this role, you will create a safe, friendly, and welcoming environment for all patrons whilst delivering programs in accordance with the relevant governing bodies, such as Royal Life Saving Society (RLSS), and Hume City Councils ‘Service First’ policies. You will effectively and efficiently carry out the tasks necessary to maintain and assist in the growth and quality of our Aquatic programs, facilities, and services.
Based at the Sunbury Aquatic and Leisure Centre you will coordinate the day-to day operations and assist the Coordinator Hume Swim School deliver industry leading Aquatic Programs to one of the most diverse communities in Victoria.
What you’ll be doing:
- Ensure the highest quality standards are maintained relating to Schools, Clubs and community group programs, service delivery and facilities in accordance with the relevant governing bodies, such as Royal Life Saving Society (RLSS), and Hume City Councils ‘Service First’ policy.
- Ensure as far as is practicable, the health and safety of all members of the public using the facilities; by operating in accordance with the relevant guidelines by maintaining an organisational culture committed to safety.
- Maintain a high standard of expertise in safety procedures and first aid by ensuring all staff adhere to the relevant procedures.
- In collaboration with the Team Leader Swim School ensure that all program staff, upon commencement, are provided with a complete Staff Induction in accordance with Hume City Council and Hume Leisure Centres recruitment guidelines.
- Liaise and communicate with users of the programs, including participants, parents/guardians, school, club and community groups, demonstrating appropriate responses to their needs and expectations, to assist and where possible to rectify, customer’s difficulties and queries.
- Responsible for ensuring the timely commencement and conclusion of programs according to the rostered schedule including the appropriate setting up and packing away of equipment prior to commencement and at the conclusion of program.
- Take required actions to ensure monthly programs budget targets are achieved in consultation with Aquatics Services Coordinator.
- Ensure that all administrative procedures are followed in relation to the recording of programs statistical data. This should include: accurate maintenance of the database, financial receipts, expenditure, attendances and bookings, and such information as is requested by the Aquatic Services Coordinator.
- Reconcile fortnightly Aquatic Education Program staff timesheets for work related to Schools, Clubs and community group programs rosters, claimed against the centre roster. Responsible for the monthly compilation of accurate program debtor information.
The skills and experience you’ll bring to the role:
- High level written communication skills including the ability to prepare reports and relevant correspondence and ensure administrative tasks are carried out efficiently and effectively.
- Flexibility to be available throughout operating hours including weekends.
- Current driver’s licence.
- Plan, priorities and manage own and staff time and workloads for the successful completion of the objectives of the position within set timelines.
- The incumbent is required to solve problems, which may at times be of a complex nature.
- Ability to liaise with schools and community groups and to co-operate in the development of aquatic programs to suit their needs.
Qualification & Licenses:
The incumbent is required to hold and maintain current qualifications in:
- AUSTSWIM ‘Teacher of Swimming’ Certificate and Water Safety Certificate
- Level 2 First Aid Certificate
- CPR Certificate
- Working with Children Check
- Tertiary qualifications relating to sport and recreational management or a similar field OR a less formal qualification with demonstrated skills and relevant experience in the coordination of an aquatic education program, including program development and the supervision of aquatic education program staff.
