We are seeking a visionary and decisive Team Leader for Landscape Planning to join our organization in Melbourne, Australia. As a key member of our subdivision team, you will lead and inspire a group of talented landscape planners to create sustainable and innovative landscape solutions for our communities.
What you’ll be doing:
- Coordinating and overseeing the team's work program including delegating work amongst the team and ensuring required timeframes are met.
- Providing support and assistance to the team to ensure that staff have a clear understanding of requirements and that the output of the team reflects Council objectives and priorities.
- Mentoring and fostering professional development within the team.
- Empowering team members to take ownership of work outputs including in the assessment and approval of plans/documents and the professional advice given.
- Nurturing a positive and inclusive team culture including recognizing and celebrating team achievements and contributions.
- Establishing clear performance expectations and providing constructive feedback.
- Promoting a collaborative and cooperative approach to problem-solving.
- Facilitating effective communication between team members and other departments.
- Monitor income and expenditure related to developers' fees and charges and any bonding arrangements in place.
- Ensure the quality of received drawings and documentation and communicate clearly with customers where quality standards have not been met.
- Ensure the requirements of legislation, Council policies and other relevant guiding documents (such as the Subdivision Act 1988, Planning and Environment Act 1987, relevant PSPs and other Hume Planning Scheme documentation) is met.
- Ensure information and documents are consistently managed and stored in line with Council policies and requirements including ensuring that all staff are using nominated document management systems and application management systems.
- Provide regular reporting to the Coordinator Subdivision Engineering and Landscape to demonstrate that work outputs are meeting any defined timelines and performance targets.
- Attend and take part in relevant meetings, forums, professional groups and the like to represent Hume’s interests in matters of landscape planning and assist in facilitating positive outcomes within the growth areas of the municipality.
The skills and experience you’ll bring to the role:
- Extensive experience in the review of landscape, streetscape and reserve plans associated with subdivisional residential and industrial development.
- Proven team leadership experience with excellent interpersonal and motivational skills
- Experience in administering the Subdivision Act 1988 and Planning and Environment Act 1987, in so far as it relates to the review, delivery/construction and maintenance of landscape assets.
- Experience in successful team leadership and people management.
- Demonstrated ability and experience in supervising, leading, motivating, developing and inspiring a team of professionals.
- Sound negotiation, communication and conflict resolutions skills and proven experience in dealing with a range of stakeholders.
- Capacity to manage multiple projects and a complex workload with a facilitative and problem-solving approach.
- Demonstrated ability to manage time, including setting priorities and organising own work and that of direct reports to complete assigned tasks within expected timelines.
Required Certifications & Qualifications:
- Tertiary qualifications in Landscape Planning or Landscape Architecture or extensive experience in the delivery of landscape planning services with lesser formal qualifications.
- A current Victorian Driver’s Licence.
