The Applications Administrator will be responsible for the ongoing operation and development of the application shared services ensuring good practice governance and applications lifecycle support for the council. This newly established function will be responsible for the operational lifecycle of council’s applications as well as the continual development and continual improvement of councils’ application ecosystem of currently more than 100+ Council Enterprise Services.
What you’ll be doing:
- Develop application shared services governance procedures, standards, and work instructions to ensure good practice provision of shared applications services.
- Establish the service catalogue representing application services and establish required product groupings.
- Support the implementation of a cloud first application strategy that will see all applications shift to SaaS or PaaS platforms over a 5-year period.
- Application Support L5 – Delivering management, technical and administrative services to support and maintain live applications.
- Ensures that all requests for support are dealt with in accordance to set standards and procedures.
- Incident Management L4 - Coordinating responses to incident reports, minimising negative impacts and restoring service as quickly as possible.
- Systems Software L4 - Installing, managing, controlling, deploying, and maintaining infrastructure systems software, to meet operational needs and service levels.
- Monitors system software metrics and adjusts configurations for optimum availability and performance.
- Software configuration L4 - Designing and deploying software product configurations into software environments or platforms.
- Systems integration and build L3 - Planning, implementing, and controlling activities to synthesise system components to create operational systems, products, or services.
- Change Control L3 - Assessing risks associated with proposed changes and ensuring changes to products, services or systems are controlled and coordinated.
- Continuity Management L3 - Developing, implementing, and testing a business continuity framework.
The skills and experience you’ll bring to the role:
- Experience in administering and configuring enterprise applications or similar role, preferably within government or enterprise environments.
- Strong understanding of software governance principles, design patterns, and enterprise integration concepts.
- Experience in governing, operating, and delivering scalable, reliable, and secure software solutions.
- Demonstrated experience as an applications administrator or in a similar role is required, with a preference for experience in government or complex organizational environments.
- Strong understanding of software development principles and practices, with proven ability to maintain scalable, reliable, and secure software solutions
- Hands-on experience with cloud platforms and SaaS products is essential, with experience in Technology One considered highly advantageous.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and exceptional communication and interpersonal abilities are needed to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
Required Certifications & Qualifications:
- A degree in Computer Systems, Computer Science, Product Development, Data Science, or a related field is preferred. Relevant industry certifications, such as in Microsoft and cloud technologies, and ITIL4 certification are also desired, along with familiarity with the enterprise systems used at the council.
