We’re looking for a passionate and creative Head of Consumer PR and Events (12 month Maternity leave cover) join our marketing team. Reporting to the Global CMO, this role will support in delivering PR strategies that tell our stories.
This role will lead in development of our external consumer communications strategy, GYG’s internal and external events calendar and national sports sponsorships. You will collaborate with various departments to execute effective communication throughout GYG.
You have an understanding of what makes a good story, lives on social media and know how the news cycle is impacted and influenced. You have a strong attention to detail and know how to write well, you’re not about stunt PR or ‘fake’ marketing – you keep it real.
The role is best suited to someone who has worked agency side or has extensive experience client side.
What you can expect:
- Oversee the development and execute the consumer media plan for new product launches and basic press office activity.
- Support the CMO on development on any communications, briefings or collateral needed for internal stakeholder engagement.
- Media and Influencer Management: Lead management and recruitment of GYG VIP program to help build GYG’s reach and awareness.
- Oversee with the development of media materials including press releases, pitches as well stories for GYG’s owned channels including blog, website and socials
- Profile the stories of our food, culture and our people to generate positive awareness
- Support the Head of Corporate and Internal Communications with the relevant media announcements, events and internal announcements
- Oversee PR executive’s handling of Public Relations-related administrative tasks such as database maintenance
- Provide support on driving internal engagement and external amplification (ie LinkedIn, identifying stories for PR activity)
- Provide daily, weekly, and real time media monitoring reports that can be shared across the GYG network
Events and Sponsorships
- Lead the development and Execution of GYG’s internal annual conferences and events (Annual Summit, Restaurant Managers Summit and Community Engagement Events). Including management of content development, theming, stakeholder management and communications.
- Support Global marketing teams in developing their Consumer PR and Events strategy and executional support
- Lead and manage the development of GYG’s consumer facing events including (sponsorship activations, new restaurant openings,
- Manage the Community engagement partners with the Head of Sustainability including internal and external updates and the coordination of GYG’s annual fundraising strategy and events.
- Manage National Sports Sponsorships with the PR + Event Executive; End to end management of national and state based partnerships including; briefings, contract negotiation, stakeholder management, activation coordination, content management and runsheet development.
- Work with our Local Area Marketing team to build the profile of our restaurants, partnerships and sponsorships.
Skills & Experience
- A proven track record leading and executing PR & Comms teams in an agency or in-house agency marketing/media environment.
- Experience working across global events and running large scale events for internal and external stakeholders.
- Understanding of sports sponsorships management, execution and negotiation.
- Excellent writing, editorial, grammar and verbal communication skills.
- Advanced analytical skills with the ability to interpret data, identify trends, and to build editorial stories.
- Highly motivated, results-oriented, and proactive in driving initiatives to success.
- Strong organisational skills with a keen attention to detail. Adaptability and resilience in handling changing priorities.
