The Opportunity
Come and discover the opportunity to join our Painting and Finishing team at our Port Kembla Manufacturing facility as a Relief Shift Team Leader. As part of the broader Manufacturing Portfolio, we have painting facilities located in Springhill, Western Sydney and Queensland that deliver a variety of products, innovative solutions and services to our export and domestic customers.
The Painting and Finishing Department at Springhill is responsible for the painting, packing and dispatching of coils. They are accountable for ensuring products comply with stringent quality and product standards before being dispatched to our customers. The Shift Team Leaders are essential in supporting their teams in managing the day to day operations within the Painting and Finishing Department.
You’ll work collaboratively within the departments, ensuring shift operations teams are focused on the delivery of exceptional performance whilst taking every opportunity to minimise cost and waste. The Relief Shift Team Leader will assist and provide coverage in various areas within the department encouraging continuous improvement strategies, and actively supporting management during change initiatives. You’ll lead and manage the team’s success through their performance and productivity to ensure our business plan objectives and targets are continually met.
This is a mixed day and shift work opportunity. As a relief shift position you will be required to cover 12hrs rotating shift work as needed to cover moving between 4 crews. When not covering shift work the opportunity is Mon-Friday day work.
What Will You Do?
You’ll lead and support various teams’ operational performance to deliver the continuous material flow, meeting targets and objectives within the Painting and Finishing lines. You’ll be responsible for:
- successfully leading and contributing to a safe working environment, ensuring safety standards are never compromised
- coaching, mentoring and developing shift team members to enhance capabilities
- coordinating development strategies for improved process control
- facilitating all safety activities and incident investigation
- identify, coordinate and lead team-based improvement projects
- delivering best-practice process, and procedure on shift
More About You
As an enthusiastic, motivated individual you enjoy leading and directing groups of employees. You will have:
- a tertiary qualification in engineering, science or processing unit experience
- a commitment to the safety and wellbeing of yourself and others
- experience with manufacturing units - metal coatings and painting knowledge preferable
- an ability to translate business objectives to clear actions and outcomes for your team
- a demonstrated ability to lead, coach and develop others to enhance capability
- an ability to influence peers and colleagues to meet operational requirements, scheduling and people demands
