The Opportunity
Our Western Port Manufacturing facility is looking for a Mechanical Maintenance Planner in our Maintenance team based in Hastings. As a part of the broader Australian Steel Products Portfolio, we have four major manufacturing sites at Western Port which operate 24 x 7 and deliver a variety of products, innovative solutions and services to export and domestic customers.
In this specialised role, you’ll work collaboratively and support our Manufacturing Operations on the performance and safety compliance of our key assets and plant equipment. This would include inspections and monitoring methods, detailed planning of work and participating in work scheduling and execution. Being producers of superior product, you’ll come to understand the condition monitoring of this equipment to ensure operational standards and requirements are met, including the safety and continuous reliability of these assets now, and into the future.

What Will You Do?
You’ll provide technical guidance and drive the continuous improvement of the performance and reliability of our equipment, including:
- scheduling maintenance work and providing detailed planning of work
- develop, implement, and manage detailed shutdown maintenance plans and schedules.
- coordinate resources, labour, and materials for shutdown maintenance projects.
- coordinate task dependencies and ensure seamless integration of maintenance activities with other shutdown operations.
- capturing maintenance history and improving maintenance strategies
- providing supervision to internal and external stakeholders
Delivering ongoing support to the plant maintenance teams and the wider asset management teams across the business, you’ll be responsible for the establishment and continual improvement of our maintenance plan. You will be:
- successfully leading and contributing to a safe working environment
- successfully applying asset management strategies for nominated equipment
- successfully develop optimised maintenance planned and schedules based on equipment critically using our CMMS
- plan and schedule preventative and corrective maintenance workorders
- providing asset utilization and maintenance management expertise
- continually review data to refine the maintenance strategy to improve reliability
More About You
You’ll bring your technical skills and experience in maintenance of equipment in continuous production facilities. You’ll also bring:
- a mechanical trade qualification with an interest in working towards an advanced diploma or mechanical engineering degree
- greater than 12 months experience in planning and scheduling inspections and maintenance of site equipment
- solid experience of SAP plus MS Office suite including MS Project
- ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritise effectively, and meet deadlines.
