About the Role:
Are you able to analyse operational risk and develop innovate solutions to mitigate risk for our mine operations? Then we want to talk with you!
Operating from the Mining Hub near the Pinjarra Refinery, the Senior Risk Management Specialist oversees the establishment of the risk management framework for WA Mining operations encompassing, a varied risk profile including but not limited to environmental, operational and safety risk.
In this diverse role you will be tasked with identifying, monitoring, and reporting risks and audit issues that could affect our operations, providing specialised advice on risk and control, aligning with Alcoa’s business strategy and objectives.
This is a highly collaborate role working across a wide variety of teams, site leadership, internal and external audit and risk management teams, and regulatory bodies, so you’ll need to be able to engage and influence at all levels to drive effective outcomes.
Key responsibilities include:
Lead and coach teams to identify potential risks associated with processes, systems, technology, and human factors under their supervision.
Assist risk and control owners to develop and implement strategies to minimise operational risks, including the establishment of controls, policies, and procedures.
Ensure that the organisation complies with industry regulations, internal policies, and external standards related to operational risk management.
Analyse data and reports to identify trends, vulnerabilities, and areas for improvement in risk management processes.
Manage and investigate operational incidents or breaches and developing plans to prevent recurrence.
Prepare and co-present (with Risk Owners) operational risk reports to senior management and relevant stakeholders.
Provide training and guidance to employees to enhance risk awareness and promote a risk-aware culture.
Lead risk assessments, control testing, and validation activities to ensure the effectiveness of risk mitigation measures.
Assess and monitor operational risks associated with third-party vendors and suppliers.
Continuously evaluate and improve the operational risk management framework based on industry best practices.

What you can bring to the role:
To play a part in our ongoing success we are seeking someone with:
Tertiary level qualification in Safety, Risk, or other relevant discipline
Extensive experience in the provision of strategic advice and guidance to senior management on work health and safety risk and related issues.
Extensive experience in the provision of work health and safety risk advice and management of change.
Experience in developing and delivering risk management studies including facilitation.
Demonstrated knowledge of Work, Health, and Safety legislation.
A track record of effective communication across all levels of an organisation with an ability influence and guide varied internal and external stakeholders to deliver effective solutions
