The Role

Due to some key project wins, our Melbourne Energy Team are looking for a Design Manager to join their high-performing, diverse team. This opportunity would suit an experienced design manager or project engineer with hands-on design experience to work on a variety of energy projects across Victoria and South Australia.

What will a day in this role look like:

• Oversee and manage designs across multiple projects for utilities and private clients within the energy industry acting as Design Manager.
• Be heavily involved in writing bids and proposals, working with multi-disciplinary practice leaders on strategic approaches to bids.
• Work closely with some of our key clients, developing business, delivery projects and managing RFQs whilst liaising with a team of multi-disciplinary engineers on projects.
• Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements by implementing best practices in design quality control, risk management, and sustainability across all projects.

What will a day in this role look like: 

• In conjunction with the Clients & Marketing leadership team, design the annual communications strategy to support the ANZ business strategy, aligning with AECOM’s global communications plan.  
• Prioritise support to our ANZ Chief Executive, providing strategic senior communications counsel. 
• Lead and develop a small team of internal and external communications specialists to develop, deliver, and assess the impact of all internal and external communications priorities. Position this team as a trusted strategic advisor to the business. 
• Partner with regional, business line and support services leaders to align on communication opportunities, including strategic initiatives, organisational changes, firm-wide policies, corporate updates, and crisis management. 
• Provide direct communications support to key executives through insights, advice and reporting to drive engagement and maximise business performance. 

Due to our ongoing strategic growth, our Melbourne Office are looking for a Project Manager to join the energy team. You will be working across multiple aspects of energy projects including, Transmission & Distribution, renewable energy and traction power.

What will a day in this role look like:

• Manage and deliver moderate to large-scale energy projects, holding accountability for project resources, budgets, timelines, and client engagement.
• Collaborate with multi-disciplinary Engineers within AECOM to ensure successful project delivery, monitor progress, and review project schedules regularly.
• Communicate with clients on project updates, with support from Senior Project Managers and Engineers, while identifying opportunities for future work aligned with AECOM’s strategy.
• Contribute to a diverse range of projects across the energy, utilities, and transport sectors, ensuring project objectives are met and client expectations are exceeded.
• Ensure compliance with industry regulations and standards, integrating health, safety, and environmental considerations into project execution to meet both internal and external compliance requirements.

Due to a strong project pipeline, we are looking for an Electrical Engineer to join our Energy Team as a Team Leader (Secondary Systems) based in Melbourne. This would suit an experienced Engineer with prior experience in managing a team, or the willingness to do so. You will be working across both transmission and distribution.

What will a day in this role look like:

• Act as Technical Lead on projects including managing delivery, verifying detailed design and monitor project measures ensuring on-time, under budget high-quality delivery to our clients.
• Work closely with our multidisciplinary team of Engineers in a client-facing role fostering and developing relationships, on a variety of projects across various market sectors including; transmission and distribution, renewables, traction power an building services sector.
• Overall team management of the secondary systems team, including work and resource allocation, oversight of projects and helping the team develop professionally. 
• Collaborate with the team, and senior leadership to develop innovative solutions to our clients assisting with bids, tenders and business development activities.

What will a day in the role look like?

• Develop a high profile with our key accounts and within our core market sectors in this region.
• Develop and implement the business plan for the group, incorporating VSA and ANZ strategic objectives and initiatives.
• Managing the Advisory, Program Management, Project Management and Project Controls teams effectively to achieve the project objectives and liaise with clients and stakeholders to meet their expectations.
• Clearly communicate our business priorities to our teams and deliver high levels of engagement and respect in your leadership style.
• Deliver on business plan key metrics
• Successfully deliver a program of projects i.e. adequately resourced, delivered on time/on budget, client satisfaction and commercially aligned with business expectations.
• Adopt Project Director Roles to support project teams and nurture client relationships.
• Connect with ANZ and global peers to support workshare and successful client outcomes.
• Connect our team to global technical leaders to support project positioning and client experience.
• Development of safety first and project excellence culture.

AECOM’s progressive Cost Management team has a new opportunity for a proven Cost Manager to work in partnership with our Building Services practice, alongside this our Cost Management team also support major projects in Transport, Civil Infrastructure, Energy and Environmental sectors.

This is a new position to support our growing team of Cost Managers in Melbourne and will allow you to lead and support our multi-disciplinary projects with a key focus on Building Services projects, while benefiting from a world-wide knowledge base of specialist engineering and construction professionals.

As part of our high performing Cost Management group, you will be responsible for providing cost management services on some of Melbourne’s most iconic projects, giving you the opportunity to further develop your career in a range of market sectors.

• Assisting with feasibility studies, capital cost advice;
• Cost planning and estimating during design phases;
• Measurement of quantities based on design drawings;
