Your new role

We are looking for a Supply Planner to join our Supply & Innovations team who are based at our Prestons site in South West Sydney.

The purpose of this role is to maintain relationships with internal cross-functional stakeholders and provide recommendations and alternatives to supply chain capability and performance. In addition to this, you will:

• Optimise the balance of inventory across the supply chain network in line with target customer service levels and safety stock levels, for your allocated product portfolio
• Place orders based upon agreed lead time and capacity availability, plus lead the interface to Suppliers to resolve supply issues relating to their product portfolio
• Develop and execute mitigation plans to relieve and eliminate out of stock situations; meeting both inventory and customer service targets
• Conduct regular business and performance reviews through contribution with various internal and external stakeholders and be accountable for master data for material planning and supply matrix list
• Monitor supply related performance metrics and consult with Suppliers regarding availability of capacity and scheduling of production
• Establish communication and information transfer process with our Suppliers

About you

Along with your 5+ years previous experience in a similar role, it would be great if you had the following skills and experience:

• Experience maintaining a minimum 12 months rolling supply plan with suppliers, with the ability to identify capacity constraints and agree actions to address the issue;
• Developing strong partnership with key supply partners, both domestically and overseas to ensure supply requirements are fulfilled;
• Executing the full supply chain lifecycle from purchase order placement, through to the flow of goods to the distribution point and everything in between
• Proven success leading initiatives that drive lead time reductions, cost savings and service levels improvements;
• Experience implementing and maintaining inventory and material management strategies for your respective SKUs by regular review and optimisation of inventory parameters and levels
• Demonstrable analytical skills and a proactive approach to continuous improvement in the integrated supply chain.

The Opportunity

Come and discover the opportunity to join our Supply Chain team as a Supply Chain Developer.  In this role, you will actively contribute to identifying, developing, and implementing improvement opportunities, driving the continuous improvement of our Supply Chain processes.

Join us as we transform our business into the digital space. This full-time permanent role will see you develop into planning systems, optimisation software and ERP systems expert, acting as a key contributor to the implementation of projects that drive efficiency and cost savings across the Supply Chain operations. While maintaining the standardisation and consistency of solutions across the business, you will also be a key contributor to the operations and support of the Supply Chain Systems team and processes.

We have 2 permanent full-time positions available, and we are looking for a candidate with 1-3 years’ experience and a candidate with 5+ years’ experience.

The role can be based in either Port Kembla NSW or Western Port VIC and a hybrid arrangement will be considered. We will consider basing the role out of other BlueScope sites around the country for the right candidate. 

What Will You Do?

You will lead the development of the supply chain data sources, by providing expert advice on data elements and their meanings. You will:

• develop, maintain and support applications used across the Supply Chain Planning and Scheduling teams
• support the expansion of high quality planning and scheduling systems throughout the Supply Chain
• analyse our supply chain, focusing on utilisation, capacity and the impact on the supply chain from any changes
• contribute toward continuous process improvement to optimise the supply chain, and ensuring opportunities are identified, addressed and continuously refined
• drive the development of modern solutions for the systems that drive the Supply Chain

More About You

This is a hands-on role, so it requires someone that is self-motivated, highly organised with the ability to multi-task. You will:

• demonstrate experience in business analysis converting user requirements into system specifications
• have a detailed understanding of object-oriented programming languages (C#, Python, C++)
• have a basic understanding of database management (SQLServer, Oracle) and the setup and use of Window based virtual servers
• have experience in stakeholder engagement at varied levels
• have the ability to work within a team to achieve outcomes
• demonstrate analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to make pragmatic decisions
• have strong ability to think both strategically and short term to solve complex problems analytically
• have strong customer focus and relationship management
