Technical Partners Health (TPH) scaffolds the provision of technical support crossing the whole of  Griffith Health, spanning three streams (Technologies, Operations and Logistics; Laboratory and Preclinical Experience; Simulation and Practical Experience). TPH includes more than 50 Technical specialists, working collaboratively to support various Health Schools, Clinics, Research and, Learning and Teaching within purpose-designed facilities across multiple campuses.
To ensure we achieve our vision, an exciting opportunity exists within our Technical Partners Health team. The Senior Compliance and Project Officer will lead in the provision of expert advice for the Health Group and implement measures of best practice pertaining to procurement, equipment handling, storage, disposal (including chemicals and substances) and biologicals handling (including health and safety procedures) to ensure that Health Group meets all legislative and University compliance requirements.
The Senior Compliance and Project Officer (TOL) is a leadership position within Griffith Health that will work under broad direction of the Technical Manager – Technologies, Operations and Logistics (TPH), to work with relevant internal and external stakeholders including regulators where appropriate to ensure the Health Group meets all legislative and University compliance requirements. This position provides expertise and strategic guidance and support to managers in preventing and responding to complex health and safety issues as well as expertise in scoping, coordinating, and administering the successful delivery of a diverse range of implementation projects involving specialised space to support strategic initiatives of the Group.
In addition, the Senior Compliance & Project Officer (TOL) will play a pivotal role in the following aspects:
- Playing a lead role in embedding a sustainable, positive and effective safety culture across the Health Group, including providing advice and assistance to staff and students on chemical and substance, biological and equipment usage safety, risk assessments and related matters.
- Undertake Special Approvals for chemicals, biologicals and equipment for Griffith Health and lead the development and implementation of appropriate chemical and substance safety standards and practices.
- Work with the University Health, Safety and Wellbeing team to implement statutory obligations for chemical and substance, biological and equipment safety matters.
- Proactively identify, implement and/or manage initiatives/projects, including processes and standards and educative support services to both staff and students on chemical and substance, biological and equipment usage safety, risk assessments and related matters.
- Work with stakeholders to support audits, corrective actions and ongoing certification of laboratories and facilities where chemical and substance, biological and equipment usage activities are occurring with a view to identifying, assessing, and controlling risks.

You will:
- Hold a degree with relevant postgraduate qualifications and significant relevant experience in providing chemical substance safety and project support within the higher education sector or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education and training which demonstrates capability to perform the key accountabilities of the position.
- Have exceptional communication, written and interpersonal stakeholder engagement and facilitation skills, enjoy delivering training and at ease working and leading in a digital environment.
- Be solution focused with excellent analytical and problem-solving ability.
- Have proven ability to successfully collaborate with Subject Matter Experts (SME's) and key knowledge holders, investigating current practices to identify optimisation opportunities for improvement and implementation.
- Be a self-starter and have a very high level of professional accruement extending to meeting KPIs and working both autonomously and as a team.
- Value teamwork and have demonstrated success effectively leading and coaching multidisciplinary teams and SMEs regarding safety and compliance implementation.
- Have a thorough working knowledge of the legislative and regulatory framework pertaining to high hazard laboratory environments.

This is a continuing, full-time position and is primarily based at Griffith University Gold Coast campus. As Griffith is a multi-campus University you may be required to work across other campus locations.

Salary Range
The full time equivalent base salary will be HEW Level 8 range $108,764 - $122,356 per annum + 17% superannuation. The total FTE package will be in the range $127,253 - $143,156 per annum.
