This is a full-time onsite role for a General Accountant at ISRA Medical Group Pty Ltd in Lakemba, NSW. The General Accountant will be responsible for managing financial records, preparing financial reports, analyzing budgets, and ensuring compliance with accounting regulations. This role will also involve collaborating with the finance team and stakeholders to improve financial processes and outcomes.
Duties:
General Accounting & Reporting:
• Budgeting & Forecasting: Develop budgets for each branch and the overall clinic, considering factors like patient volume, staffing costs, and operational expenses. Regularly analyze variances and update forecasts.
• Financial Statement Preparation: Prepare income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements for each branch and the consolidated clinic, ensuring compliance with Medicare reporting requirements.
• Cost Accounting: Track and analyze the cost of providing different medical services across branches to identify areas for efficiency improvement and cost reduction.
Compliance & Auditing:
• Medicare Billing & Compliance: Ensure accurate and timely submission of Medicare claims, strict adherence to Medicare billing regulations, and thorough documentation to support claims.
• Internal Controls: Develop and maintain internal control systems to safeguard clinic assets, ensure accurate financial reporting, and prevent fraud. Regularly review and update these systems.
• Regulatory Reporting: Prepare and submit all required financial reports to governing bodies, including Medicare and other relevant healthcare agencies.
Taxation:
• Tax Planning & Preparation: Develop tax strategies to minimize the clinic's tax liability. Prepare and file all necessary federal and state tax returns for the clinic.
• Payroll Tax Compliance: Ensure accurate calculation, withholding, and reporting of payroll taxes for all employees across all branches.
Advisory Services:
• Financial Analysis: Analyse financial performance across branches, identify trends, and provide recommendations for improvement to management.
• Capital Investment Analysis: Evaluate the financial viability of potential capital investments, such as new medical equipment or expansion to new branches.
Systems & Processes:
• Accounting System Management: Implement and maintain a robust accounting system (potentially cloud-based) that can handle multi-branch operations and integrate with Medicare billing software.
• Data Analysis & Reporting: Utilize accounting software to generate reports for management decision-making, including key performance indicators (KPIs) specific to the healthcare industry.
Qualifications
• Financial Management, Accounting, and Bookkeeping skills
• Experience in financial reporting and analysis
• Knowledge of accounting principles and regulations
• Proficiency in financial software and MS Excel
• Attention to detail and accuracy in work
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
• Professional certification (e.g., CPA, CA) is a plus
