Ensure the provision of high-quality aquatic and recreation opportunities to Hume City Council residents, by providing safe, friendly, inclusive and welcoming environments through leading the delivery of high-quality aquatic supervision, services and operations.
What you’ll be doing:
- Support the Coordinator Aquatic Services in the development and review of risk assessments, policies, procedures, and work instructions relating to Aquatic Supervision and Services.
- These systems / processes will focus on ensuring the health, safety and service for all members of the public, staff and contractors using the facilities through compliance with the Safer Public Pools Code of Practice, Royal Lifesaving Society’s Guidelines for Safe Pool Operations and other relevant regulations, organisational Policies / procedures standards, guidelines, and industry best practises.
- This position is responsible for the implementation, monitoring and review of such systems / processes within the facility.
- Support the Coordinator Aquatic Services in the development and review of risk assessments, policies, procedures, and work instructions relating to Aquatic Operations (including Water Quality and Pool Operations).
- These systems / processes will focus on ensuring the health and safety for all members of the public, staff and contractors using the facilities through compliance with the Public Health and Wellbeing Regulations, Water Quality Guidelines and other relevant regulations, organisational policies / procedures, standards, guidelines, and industry best practises.
- In conjunction with the Coordinator Aquatic Services, support the development and implementation of processes for Duty Supervisors to deliver high quality day to day operations in the key Aquatic Operation areas. These include:
- Aquatic Supervision: day to day rostering and management of lifeguards
- Water Quality management: day to day monitoring (pool tests) and corrective actions (ie. chemical dosing)
- Pool Plant Operations: day to day monitoring (inspections), routine maintenance (backwashing / cleaning), troubleshooting common issues and a clear escalation process to address operational issues.
- In conjunction with the Coordinator Compliance and Safety, Coordinator Aquatic Services, Aquatic Operation Team Leaders at other Facilities and other relevant leaders, prepare and undertake Pool Safety Assessments on an annual basis.
- Support all leaders in providing professional development opportunities for staff, to promote skills development, building opportunities for staff to progress within the organisation.
The skills and experience you’ll bring to the role:
- Knowledge and demonstrated understanding of current recreation trends.
- Knowledge and demonstrated understanding of Royal Lifesaving Society ‘Guidelines for Safe Pool Operation’, and other relevant guidelines and regulations.
- Ability to gain cooperation and communicate both verbally and in writing to a broad range of people from diverse backgrounds and cultures.
- Effective public speaking and writing skills including the delivery of training relevant to Aquatic Services.
- Knowledge and demonstrated understanding of pool plant and equipment operation.
- Demonstrated promotional and public relation skills.
- Demonstrated ability to relate to and resolve problems, in general and with other Council departments in the provision of recreational services.
- Ability to identify customer needs and expectations, decide the appropriate action and respond accordingly.
Required Certifications & Qualifications:
- Tertiary qualifications relating to recreational management or a similar field OR relevant experience in aquatic operations management coordination and delivery.
- Current Pool Lifeguard Award.
- Current Provide First Aid (Level 2) Certificate.
- Aquatic Technical Operation (Pool Operation) Certificate or demonstrated experience, skills and knowledge in operating public pool plant and equipment.
- Current Employee Working with Children Check
- Current driver’s licence.
