Looking for a motivated Environmental Services Officer to assist with the delivery of Environmental Services programs.
What you’ll be doing:
- Carry out Environmental Services waste and litter programs including:
- Roadside waste collection
- Shop cleaning
- Litter collection
- Dead animal and syringe collection
- Smoker’s pole clearances
- Respond to work requests through Hume’s CRM including updating job notes, attaching photos and closing out or referring jobs as necessary.
- Operate all types of waste and litter collection vehicles.
- Where necessary assist with the domestic waste collection program by driving the vehicle and emptying bins in accordance with approved programs.
- Conduct pre-start checks and perform routine maintenance on a daily basis in accordance with approved pre-start and post checklists and maintenance programs.
- Carry out collection and disposal programs in accordance with Council’s Workplace Health and Safety policies and procedures, ensuring a safe working environment for staff and contractors.
- Dispose of waste and litter collected at Council’s resource recovery centres as required.
- Comply with the quality and safety systems requirements by completing appropriate paperwork.
- Complete a daily timesheet and running sheet detailing activities for the day.
- Report any maintenance/repairs requirements to Fleet Services.
The skills and experience you’ll bring to the role:
- A demonstrated understanding of municipal environmental services operations and practices.
- Basic awareness of relevant legislation including, "Road Management Act 2004".
- Knowledge of Works Programming, plant & equipment selection.
- Ability to obtain and hold required licenses and certifications.
- Knowledge of the Heavy Vehicle National Law and Regulations.
- Ability to gain co-operation and communicate verbally to a broad range of people from diverse backgrounds and cultures.
- Demonstrated ability to contribute and work in a team environment. Ability to work individually or as part of a team.
Required Certifications & Qualifications:
- Certificate III in Waste Management or substantial relevant experience in the field of waste and litter programs with lesser formal qualifications.
- Relevant experience in the field of waste and litter collection and disposal or a similar maintenance environment.
- Current heavy vehicle truck licence.

- Certificate of competency to operate environmental services plant and equipment

- Spotter Certificate
- OH&S Red Card
- Asbestos Awareness Training
- Traffic Control Training
- Manual Handling Training
- Current First Aid and CPR
