About the opportunity:
An opportunity has become available to join our team as a Farm Hand on the Kaiuroo Aggregation located near Dingo in Central Queensland. This property is mixed cattle and broadacre cropping property, which will provide the successful candidate the opportunity to develop their skills in the livestock space as well as the broadacre cropping space.
This is an ongoing, permanent opportunity and is not suitable for backpackers or candidates seeking short term work.
Key Responsibilities:
Reporting to the Farm Manager, you will assist with:
- Establishing crops including bed preparation, fertilising, sowing and cultivation
- Crop management including herbicide and pesticide application
- Operating broadacre farming plant and equipment including airseeder, precision planter, self-propelled spray unit and other farming equipment
- Maintaining plant and equipment
- General farm duties including fencing and repairs and maintenance
- Meeting work health and safety requirements
- You will be physically fit, with a good level of general fitness to meet the physically demanding requirements of the role
- You will hold a current driver’s licence
- You will be open to ongoing training and development including vocational training
- You will carry out your work as directed in a precise, safe and sensible manner
- You will be flexible and available to work hours which may vary to meet operational demands
- A positive, can-do attitude is essential
- Previous experience working on a broadacre farming operation, and operating machinery will be highly regarded however is not essential for candidates displaying the right attitude
- An above award hourly rate, based on your skills and experience
- On farm accommodation available
- Salary continuance and life insurance, and annual discretionary bonus subject to eligibility criteria
