Job Title: Accounts Officer

Position Overview:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Accounts Officer to join our finance team. This role is integral to maintaining accurate financial records, processing transactions, and ensuring the smooth operation of day-to-day financial tasks. The ideal candidate will have experience in accounting within a fast-paced environment and a strong understanding of financial systems. Knowledge of freight forwarding and logistics is highly desirable, as it will help you navigate the unique aspects of our business.
Key Responsibilities:
• Process and manage accounts payable and receivable transactions, ensuring timely payments and collections.
• Reconcile and maintain general ledger accounts, including bank and credit card accounts.
• Prepare and process invoices, credit notes, and purchase orders related to freight forwarding and logistics services.
• Assist with monthly and year-end closing processes, including preparing financial reports.
• Liaise with internal teams and customers to resolve billing issues, discrepancies, and logistics-related financial queries.
• Assist with the preparation of financial statements and management reports.
• Ensure compliance with company policies, freight forwarding industry regulations, and relevant financial guidelines.
• Assist with audits and tax-related matters as required.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records for all freight forwarding activities.
• Provide general administrative support to the finance department as needed.
Qualifications & Skills:
• Accounting degree or relevant qualifications
• A minimum of 2 years’ experience in an accounts or bookkeeping role, preferably within logistics, freight forwarding, or a related industry.
• Strong knowledge of accounting principles and practices.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, and accounting software (experience with Expedient or similar software preferred).
• Experience with invoicing, billing, and financial documentation specific to the logistics and freight forwarding industry.
• Excellent attention to detail and ability to work with numbers accurately.
• Strong communication skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with internal teams, customers, and external stakeholders.
• Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and meet deadlines.
• A proactive approach to problem-solving and continuous improvement.
Desirable:
• Solid understanding of freight forwarding and logistics processes, including air and ocean freight, customs clearance, and project forwarding.
• Experience in managing accounts related to international trade and shipping.
