Job Overview:
Employee will be the Team Leader at SJR Building Group Pty Ltd. His main job is to lead and oversee a group of carpenters to make sure they finish building projects successfully. His/her role is important for keeping the company's good standards, meeting project deadlines, and ensuring a safe and productive work environment.
In order to be considered for this role, the right candidate needs to have:
• AQF certificate III and 2 years on-the-job training or AQF certificate IV.
• At least 2 years of work experience in Australia.
• Experience gained in a leadership capacity is an advantage.
• Should have valid visa or full working rights to work in Australia.
Main Tasks Include:
Planning Projects: Employee works with project managers and architects to understand what a project needs, how long it will take, and how much it will cost.
Managing the Team: Employee will lead and takes care of a team of carpenters and framers. This involves giving them tasks, guiding them, and checking on their work.
Checking Quality: Employee will make sure that all carpentry work is of a good quality, follows the plans, and is safe.
Getting Materials: Employee will study drawings and specifications to work out the required material and will communicate with the concerned person to order and organize the material and tools required to get the job done. The employee will be responsible to select the correct timber and material, and tools.
Determining procedures: The employee will prepare layouts and will determine the dimensions and the installation procedures for the team to follow.
Making Schedules & Keeping Records: Employee will plan and make a schedule of when the work is to be done. Employee will keep record of what work is done, what materials are used, and any changes in the plan.
Controlling Costs: Employee will watch how much money is spent on the project and will control the wastage of materials or resources. The employee will educate the new carpenters to work professionally and cost effectively.
Safety Rules: Employee will make sure everyone follows the rules to prevent accidents.
Using Carpentry Skills: Employee will use his carpentry knowledge and skills to help his team with hard tasks and problems and/or whenever required his assistance to get the job done.
Team Communication: Employee will talk to the project managers, and other concerned people to provide updates on how things are going.
Training and Helping: Employee will use his/her experience, skills, and knowledge to train new carpenters and to provide ongoing support until they are fully confident to do the given tasks.
Taking Care of Tools: Employee will make sure the carpentry tools and equipment are kept in good condition and are safe to use by the team. The employee will be responsible to order new tools when required.
Solving Problems: Employee will use his/her expertise to address the project related issues and to do the needful to sort them out.
Following Rules: Employee will make sure his team follows all the building rules and permits.
Client Communication: Employee will be responsible to communicate with clients effectively, listening to their needs and concerns, and making sure to solve their matters.
Budgets and Costs: Employee will help in making budgets and will figure out how much a project might cost.
Making Improvements: Employee will look for ways to do things better & safe, save money, and make projects turn out well.
Salary: $70,000 - $75,000 + Super
