Primary Focus
The Protected Cropping Tunnel Supervisor (PCTS) is responsible for leading the protected cropping team in the delivery of operational and technical outcomes in line with the required crop production outcomes.
The PCTS is responsible for constructing and maintaining the protected cropping infrastructure to achieve the complex and interrelated climatic conditions required for optimal protected crop production. The installation, repairs and maintenance must be aligned with budgets, time requirements and seasonal constraints.
The PCTS leads and manages a diverse team, fostering a positive and resilient culture.
Key Responsibilities
Agronomic Production
Manage the protected cropping infrastructure to ensure optimum growing conditions for soft fruit production. Working closely with the technical and operational departments to ensure all crops yields for Strawberry, Raspberry and Blackberry are maximised and quality fruit produced. Manage climatic conditions using infrastructure within the polytunnels, in line with crop requirements and communications with the technical and agronomy teams. Invest in analysis and research to improve the protected cropping environments.
Work Health Safety
Lead and direct the team to ensure safe day to day operations and WH&S standards are maintained. Implement improvements in managing key risk areas and ensure the team is aware of any potential hazards.
Repairs & Maintenance
Work with the technical and agronomy team to manage maintenance for all fields which is flexible in its delivery allowing for seasonal weather. Manage the daily repairs and maintenance schedule for all cropping/production fields.
Leadership
Manage the Teams to ensure all production jobs are completed to meet with the quality and required time frames. Oversee, monitor, and work with the team daily, providing feedback and create a collaborate and cohesive culture. Train and upskill team members as required.
Reporting
Assist the financial manager with the annual budget preparation. Provide sectional budgets as required. Complete timely and accurate data entry for software programs. Work closely with the Non harvest manager for reporting on actual to budget expenditure. Monitor labour and equipment cost tracking and provide regular reports to the management team.
Other
Seek opportunities of innovation and continuous improvement in the construction and maintaining tunnel structures to meet operational and climate management requirements.
Represent Burlington Berries at industry events and with 3rd party providers
Relevant Diploma qualification + At least 2 years relevant work experience - Strong analytical and problem-solving skills - Excellent communication skills and teamwork abilities
Salary
$70,000-$75,000
