This Research Fellow position is funded by the Solving Plastic Waste Cooperative Research Centre, a multi-institution partnership between academia and industry that has secured investment from the Federal Government to develop solutions to tackle problems involving plastic waste over the next 10 years. The CRC aims to find innovative solutions for reducing plastic waste, improving recycling processes, and developing sustainable alternatives to conventional plastics. Griffith University is one of the core research partners in the Solving Plastic Waste CRC.

The Research Fellow is a key position for the Solving Plastic Waste CRC and will work within Research Program 1 under the supervision of Prof Stefanie Feih from Griffith with industry partners to characterise and advance recycled plastic material formulations for specific target applications and critical material specifications. This is a hands-on and industry-facing position. Most importantly, the successful candidate will lead the industry engagement, chemically and mechanically characterise recycled plastic materials, and develop qualification systems that can rapidly identify performance-reducing contaminants within recycled material sources.

The successful candidate will benefit from the extended Solving Plastic Waste education and training program including training in communications, innovation management and leadership; a wide range of industry leading microcredentials; and an annual collaborative Design Challenge to develop innovative systems approaches to Solving Plastic Waste.

This is a fixed term (3 year), full time position and will be primarily based at the Griffith University Gold Coast campus, with travel to the Nathan campus required for equipment access. As Griffith is a multi-campus University you may be required to work across other campus locations.

Salary Range
The full time equivalent base salary will be Research Fellow, Grade 2 range $110,464 - $131,180 per annum + 17% superannuation. The total FTE package will be in the range $129,243 - $153,481 per annum.

The Australian Rivers Institute (ARI) was formed in 2006 and is one of Australia's largest university aquatic ecosystem research groups with globally recognised expertise in river, catchment and coastal ecosystems and the interaction with these systems in society.  ARI combines outstanding scholarship with making a significant contribution to society through providing knowledge and advice. ARI's talented researchers offer essential insights into the water cycle's linkages, interconnectedness, and interdependencies. The Institute has over 180 staff and postgraduate students across the University's Nathan and Gold Coast campuses and hosts the International Water Centre, Coastal Management Research Centre and the Sustainable Water Future Programme. We undertake high-quality research and postgraduate training in freshwater and estuarine ecology, catchment processes and water resource management.

This Research Fellow will contribute to the ARC Industry Fellowship Project, "A New Gully Model for a Healthier Great Barrier Reef", using cutting-edge model emulation techniques in applied mathematics to generate insights on gully erosion and remediation at the catchment scale. Collaborate with the Queensland Water Modelling Network and the Department of Environment, Tourism, Science and Innovation.

The Research Fellow will focus 80% on the ARC project and will also include a 20% teaching component, which involves teaching into the applied mathematics major in the School of Environment and Science.

This position is co-located with Queensland Government Department of Environment, Tourism, Science and Innovation (DETSI) in connection with the Queensland Water Modelling Network.  The Research Fellow will co-locate with DETSI 1 day per week at the EcoSciences Precinct and be based at the Gold Coast campus on other days.

This is a fixed term (3 year) position. This position can accommodate either part time or full time, with a minimum of 70% up to 100% and will be primarily based at the Griffith University Gold Coast campus. We are looking for a Research Fellow to work within the Surfaces, Materials and Catalysis research group on the development, characterisation and evaluation of catalysts for the development of electrocatalysts as part of the ARC Centre of Excellence for Green Electrochemical Transformation of Carbon Dioxide. The Research Fellow will report to Professor Karen Wilson.

The Project Research Coordinator will provide a high level of support and coordination throughout the design, development, facilitation and analysis of consumer co-design research. This role requires strong attention to detail and great prioritising of tasks and time management.

Through effective communication and an outstanding ability to collect and catalogue data, this role will manage and drive multiple activities across a precision health technology development project, funded by the Australian government Medical Research Future Fund. Tasks will include technology co-design activities, assisting with biomechanics data collection, stakeholder engagement, and data management. This role will also coordinate third parties, provide administrative assistance to senior staff and support the research groups activities and training.

The full time equivalent base salary for a Project Research Coordinator HEW 7 will be in the range of $96,669 - $104,731 per annum + 17% superannuation. The total FTE package will be in the range $113,102 - $122,535 per annum.

This position provides high level research assistance for the research project: Implementing cognitive interventions for older people in memory clinics: A pilot feasibility study, as directed by Associate Professor Kerryn Pike. The primary research is a pilot trial, conducted by the Australian Dementia Network (ADNeT) Cognitive Interventions Working Group. The trial aims to determine whether a clinician training package can increase the availability of cognitive interventions for older adults with mild cognitive impairment through memory clinics.

The Senior Research Assistant will be involved in data analysis, preparing papers for publication, conference presentations, and funding applications.

The Research Fellow position involves contributing to one or more areas of research within the Cities Research Institute. The Research Fellow will work within the research group of the Director of the Cities Research Institute / Coastal and Marine Research Centre.

The Research Fellow will contribute to risk management and decision-making strategies in the face of tropical cyclones impacting coastal Queensland. In this collaborative role, you'll contribute to the development of a decision support system aimed at bolstering emergency and disaster management efforts. Partnering with esteemed organisations such as Queensland Fire and Emergency Services, GeoScience Australia, Bureau of Meteorology, and the Department of Environment and Science, you'll play a pivotal role in addressing the challenges posed by extreme wind and storm tide inundation.

This role is responsible for;

The Research Fellow (Grade 1) will  work with a team of researchers on the NHMRC Project “Unmasking HIV latency through disruption of HIV synapses”. The primary purpose of this position is to develop highly automated live cell image analysis pipeline to reveal the spatial-temporal dynamics of Ca2+-HIV synapse biology.

The appointee will be given the opportunity to:

• Collaborate with cell biologist at the Institute for Glycomics, Griffith University, that study HIV replication.
• Work on live-cell imaging using state-of-the-art high-speed microscopy for 4D analyses.

Key responsibilities for this position will include, but are not limited to:

• Conduct research that contributes to the development of an AI-enabled live cell image analysis pipeline for the NHMRC project.
• Develop an excellent publication record in high impact, international, esteemed peer-reviewed journals and conferences, and to seek competitive funding.

You will also have:

• A PhD or equivalent qualifications/work experience in Computer Science, Engineering, or Applied Mathematics.
• Solid research experience in developing AI-enabled computer vision system for non-rigid object segmentation and tracking. Experience in cell image analysis is highly desirable.
• Demonstrated publication record in high quality peer-reviewed journals and/or conferences in computer vision and machine learning.
• Excellent collaboration skills in cross functional teams with the ability to communicate to both technical and non-technical audiences.
