We now have an opportunity for an experienced person with a passion for plants to join our Sydney team.
Working for high profile clients across a range of sites throughout Sydney, you'll be out and about, visiting our clients and tending to internal plants and some soft landscape maintenance. Our clients are mainly hotels, government departments and blue-chip companies so great presentation and communication skills are critical.
Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Landscape Gardener to oversee and manage the day-to-day operations of our horticulture team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in horticulture, excellent leadership abilities, and a passion for maintaining beautiful and sustainable landscapes. This role involves planning, coordinating, and supervising all gardening and landscaping operations, ensuring that projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest standards of quality.
Key Responsibilities:
• Planting trees, bushes, hedges, flowers, and bulbs as per design drawings to enhance outdoor landscapes.
• Preparing lawn areas by spreading topsoil, planting grass, and adding protection barriers to ensure growth of healthy and aesthetically pleasing lawns.
• Lawn maintenance including watering, adding appropriate fertilization, mowing lawns to the desired height and edging for a clean appearance.
• Garden maintenance, which involves tasks such as watering, fertilizing, weed removal, hedging, pruning for plant health, and the removal of rubbish and debris upon work completion.
• Examining plants and trees, spraying /dusting plants and applying pesticide control when necessary.
• Looking out for safety hazard and removing branches/ diseased trees using chainsaw and/or handsaws.
• To ensure motor vehicles, tools and equipment are cleaned, properly maintained and making sure they are in good working order.
• Maintaining a clean and organized worksite by performing regular clean-up and maintenance activities to ensure a safe and efficient work environment.
• Prompt and regular client feedback / interactions on landscape design concepts/themes for new jobs, and details of work carried out for maintenance works.
• Utilizing personal protective safety gear as required to safely perform daily tasks and maintaining a professional appearance and demeanour that positively represents the company's image.
Skills :
• Must know how to handle equipment & tools: Lawn Mower, Lawn Edger, Whipper Sniper, Pole Hedge Trimmer, Hedger Trimmer, Chainsaw, High Pressure Washer, Blower, Loppers, Secateurs, Telescopic Tree Pruner, Pruning Saw and Fertiliser Spreader
Requirements:
• Relevant Cert III qualification or at least 3 years experience in a similar role within the landscaping industry
• Manual Drivers Licence
• AFP National Police Check (no older than 1 year) or the ability to obtain one
• Sound knowledge of WHS Policy and Procedure
• Work Health & Safety General Construction Induction and
• Working Safely at Heights (RIIWHS204E)
