Walker’s Doughnuts Bakery Group Pty Ltd is a reputable food establishment located in Campbellfield in Vic. They are now looking for a Chef to join their kitchen team and elevate their culinary creations to new heights.
The Role
This is a full-time role with an annual salary at $73,150 plus superannuation.
Responsibilities
Prepare, cook, and present dishes according to the restaurant or establishment’s menu and standards.
Ensure food is prepared in a timely manner and meets quality and presentation standards.
Work with a variety of kitchen equipment, including ovens, fryers, grills, and mixers.
Assist in designing menus, considering factors like seasonality, dietary needs, and cost control.
Suggest new dishes or improvements to existing ones to ensure customer satisfaction.
Oversee junior chefs, kitchen assistants, and other kitchen staff to ensure smooth operations.
Delegate tasks and train staff on food preparation and kitchen safety standards.
Maintain high standards of cleanliness and hygiene in the kitchen, following health and safety regulations.
Ensure proper storage and handling of ingredients to prevent contamination.
Order and maintain stocks of ingredients and kitchen supplies.
Monitor stock levels and manage the rotation of perishable items.
Work closely with restaurant management to ensure the quality of food meets customer expectations.
Handle customer requests and complaints professionally.
Help manage kitchen budgets by controlling costs and minimizing wastage.
Monitor portion sizes and ingredient usage to ensure cost-effectiveness.
Requirements
To be successful in this role, you must have:
Relevant Certificate 3 or 4 qualifications in commercial cookery
Minimum 2 years of experience as a Chef
Must have at least 2 years of experience in cooking over grill
At least 2 years of menu planning experience
At least 2 years of experience of managing food preparation and cooking processes?
At least 2 years of experience supervising and training kitchen staff, particularly in production techniques.
At least 2 years of experience overseeing kitchen operations, including scheduling, inventory, and quality control.
Having good knowledge of planning and preparing specialized menus?with a focus on donuts and related items.
Must know how to create new recipes and design menu according to budget
Knowledge and experience in modern Australia cuisine is essential
Must know how to work with dietary requirements such as vegan, and gluten free food preparation techniques
Experience in adherence to recipe & portion control, as well as ordering and stock control
Ability to follow instruction & take direction
Excellent time management and attention to detail
Knowledge of food safety and hygiene standards
Excellent communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team
Be available to work on weekends to deal with many customers
