ROOF PLUMBER:
$30 to $45 per hour - depending on experience plus allowances
Roofers prepare commercial, industrial or domestic roofs and install metal roofing iron on the roof to ensuring it is insulated and waterproof.
Tasks Include:
1. Review drawings, specifications and work sites to determine materials required
2. Erect ladders and elevators as required
3. Erect and dismantle restricted height scaffolding
4. Preparing the roof includes the laying of safety mesh and insulation including vapour barriers which are extremely important in the tropics
5. Installation of the metal roofing iron involves the installation of box guttering, rain water sumps, downpipes, purpose made gutterings and all types of flashings (weather proof coverings) as well as laying the metal roof sheeting
6. Flashings range from Ridge, Baron, Apron and Penetration flashings that will need to be hand scribed to match the profile of the roof and the penetration being flashed.
7. Handle waterproofing materials, tools and equipment
8. Apply protective paint coating systems if required
9. The hand scribing of flashings takes a great amount of time & skill to waterproof the roof to prevent water leaks and if not done properly by a skilled tradesman can create major water problems especially during monsoonal periods.
