Position: Nursery Worker (Multiple Positions)
Location: Carawah Nursery, Hoddles Creek
Employment Type: Full-time
Salary: $70,000 - $75,000 + Superannuation
About the Role:
Carawah Nursery, located in the scenic Hoddles Creek, is seeking multiple motivated and hardworking Nursery Workers to join our team. Specialising in high-quality Australian Native tube stock, we operate in a fast-paced production environment, and we're looking for team members with a passion for horticulture to help us thrive.
Key Responsibilities:
• Propagation & Cultivation: Propagate and cultivate Australian native plants, including preparing seeds and cuttings, and planting them in trays, tubes, pots, or garden beds.
• Plant Maintenance: Water plants manually and manage automatic irrigation systems, ensuring hydration tailored to the needs of native species.
• Plant Health Management: Identify and manage pests, diseases, and weeds using environmentally responsible methods, including organic treatments where appropriate.
• Stock Management: Oversee the potting, planting, and organisation of nursery stock, maintaining accurate inventory.
• Horticultural Techniques: Perform specialised tasks such as pruning to enhance plant health and growth.
• Record Keeping: Maintain detailed production records, including soil mixes, schedules, pest treatments, and plant yields.
• Nursery Maintenance: Ensure a clean, organised work environment, including maintaining greenhouses and nursery grounds.
• Availability During Peak Periods: Flexibility for extra hours and weekend work during busy seasons, including a rotating roster for weekend watering and plant care.
Qualifications:
• Certificate III in Horticulture (or related field), or a minimum of 2 years’ experience in an Australian Native tube stock nursery.
• Strong passion for Australian native plants and basic plant care knowledge.
• Physically capable of handling manual tasks and lifting heavy items.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
• Valid Australian Driver's License.
