Auswide Civil Projects Pty Ltd / The Salty Lime Co, requires a Crop Farmer.
The Salty Lime Co is set on 133 Acres, currently having 1500 Finger Lime Trees, which require an experienced and dedicated Crop Farmer to take production to the next level.
As our Crop Farmer you will be responsible for a wide range of tasks that are essential to the successful running of our property, working closely with the owners and keeping up productivity to the highest of qualities.
The successful applicant will drive crop production through proper management and innovation, with quality plant and equipment.
Your role will cover the following tasks and duties.
Harvest coordinating - Organising and conducting farming operations, such as collecting, storing, grading and packaging produce, and organising the sale, purchase and despatch of produce
Identify and evaluate work requirements in regards to manpower forecasting, logistics, tools, materials and equipment requirements.
Managing business capital and budgeting
Maintaining and evaluating records of farming activities, monitoring market activity, and planning crop preparation and production to meet contract requirements and market demand
Crop monitoring - Maintaining crop production by cultivating and maintaining optimal growing conditions.
Soil management and preparation assessing environmental and market factors
Farm Maintenance of farm buildings, fences, equipment and water supply systems
Irrigation & Fertilisation
Undertaking or coordinating maintenance of machinery and equipment
Quality control and field supervision
Plans, organizes, executes, monitors and undertakes field operations to include: Weed Control, Planting, Bagging, Replanting, Pest and Disease, Fertilization, Drainage Maintenance and Fruit Care Operations.
Selecting, training and supervising staff and contractors
To be successful in the role, you will need to demonstrate the following skills and abilities:
Have a strong safety culture, exposure and acceptance to safe farming practices
Experience as a cropping Farm operator on a large scale cropping operation
Experience in machinery set-up, calibrations, operations, trouble shooting and maintenance
Self-starting, motivated and ability to delivery to deadlines
Strong communication skills for clear reporting, transparency of operations and for safety purposes using online platforms
Proven ability to build and maintain strong internal and external relationships
Willingness to use technology
Qualifications & Experience
5 years proven experience in Horticulture and Farm management
Bachelor Degree in Agriculture, Agronomy or Farm Management discipline
Experience in running a farm and knowledge of day to day operations
Accredited chemical handler (or willing to obtain)
This full-time position, offers a base salary between $70,000 - $80,000, dependent on your skills and experience.
