Position Overview:
The Baker is responsible for producing high-quality baked goods while ensuring compliance with food safety standards. This role involves both hands-on baking and administrative responsibilities, such as managing supplies and supervising apprentices. The Baker will be a key team member, maintaining the bakery’s reputation for excellence and supporting its continued growth.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Baking and Production:
Weigh, mix, knead, mature, mould, and shape mixtures for baking.
Load and unload mixtures into ovens using tins and trays.
Operate and monitor baking equipment, adjusting controls to regulate oven temperatures.
Product Decoration and Presentation:
Glaze or decorate baked goods using icing, cream, and other toppings.
Mix and blend colors for icings and create shaped sugar ornaments.
Ensure all products are visually appealing and meet standardized portion sizes.
Food Safety and Hygiene:
Maintain a clean and organized kitchen workspace in compliance with Food Safety requirements.
Follow strict personal hygiene standards, including wearing a clean uniform.
Check cleanliness of equipment and utensils to meet health and safety regulations.
Inventory Management:
Order baking supplies from wholesalers and manage stock levels.
Ensure accurate tracking and use of ingredients to minimize waste.
Customer Service:
Serve customers at the bakery, ensuring excellent service and product knowledge.
Administrative Responsibilities:
Assist with budget preparation and management.
Supervise and mentor apprentices and junior kitchen staff.
Requirements:
Australian Citizens and Permanent Residents are encouraged to apply.
Certificate IV in Patisserie.
At least 2 years of experience in a similar role.
Proficiency in baking techniques, including weighing, mixing, shaping, and decorating.
Strong knowledge of baking equipment operation and maintenance.
Attention to detail for portion control and food presentation.
Effective time management and organizational skills.
Strong understanding of food safety and hygiene standards.
Leadership and mentoring skills to supervise apprentices.
Excellent communication and customer service abilities.
