Northern Meat Co-op are currently looking to recruit experienced and qualified Skilled Meat Workers, including Slaughters, Boners and Slicers to join their teams in Casino and Booyong.
The successful candidate will need to undertake:
- Stuns and kills livestock
- Prepares carcasses for further processing by removing internal organs and hides
- Operates switching controls to direct and drop carcasses and meat cuts from supply rails to boning tables
- Cuts meat to separate meat, fat and tissue from around bones
- Washes, scrapes and trims foreign material and blood from meat
- Cuts sides and quarters of meat into standard meat cuts, such as rumps, flanks, and shoulders, and removing internal fat, blood clots, bruises and other matter to prepare them for packing and marketing
- Operates restrainer and stunning equipment
- Severs veins of stunned animals particularly pork to drain blood and facilitate dressing
- Trims and removes meat and severs animal carcasses
- May slaughter livestock according to procedures required by religious custom
Skills & Attributes:
- Must have minimum 4 years’ experience as a Skilled Meat Process Workers
- Certificate III in Meat Processing or related Qualification
- OH&S awareness
- Ability to work in a team environment
Salary range is $60,000-$85,000pa commensurate with experience.
