WesTrac is looking for Plant Mechanic to join their team based in NSW and WA.
This role is responsible for the servicing, repair and maintenance of heavy-duty Caterpillar plant and equipment.
ESSENTIAL SKILLS, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

Education/Certificates
• Australian Recognised Heavy-Duty Trade Certificate
• Driver’s License
• Dogging and Rigging Ticket desirable
• Forklift License desirable
Experience and Knowledge
• Extensive diagnostic and fault-finding skills
• Demonstrated ability to work remotely
• Ability to work and seek out work opportunities without continuous direct supervision
• Ability to work effectively within a Team and have a strong commitment to continuous improvement principles
• CAT Dealership experience and knowledge of CAT machinery and equipment
• Knowledge of OHS/WHS requirements and ability to follow them
• Ability to work in a high-risk environment
• Effective communication with mangers, supervisors and team members
• Previous experience with D10 and D11 Dozers, 992 Wheel Loaders, 24M Graders and a wide range of models of Off Highway Trucks (777F – 793F) highly desirable.
• 5+ years working on CAT is preferable. Komatsu, Hitachi and some UG equipment is also considered
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Carrying out repairs, maintenance and servicing of mobile plant equipment, heavy vehicles or related products/machines.
• Troubleshoot faults on mobile plant equipment, heavy vehicles or related products/machines
• Carry out periodic preventive maintenance services such as 250, 500, 1000 and 2000 hours service and defects on equipment
• Component change outs including engines, final drives, transmission
• Hydraulic repairs and maintenance to cylinders, hoses, motors, valves
• Support the operation to be able to achieve its production goals in maintaining mechanical product to operate with limited failure rates
• Carry out vehicle inspections on mobile plant equipment, heavy vehicles or related products/machines
• Diagnose and action mechanical faults
• Keep machines and equipment operational and help Reduce the companies mechanical operational inefficiencies through effective planned maintenance
• Maintain a safe organised workshop and work area
• Sourcing necessary parts required regarding overall service and maintenance
• Maintain service records to a high standard
• Carrying out Caterpillar product improvement plans and product support programs whilst maintaining and operating in a safe work environment.
• Maintain a high level of housekeeping by removing any hazards in accordance with safety standards
Salary: $75000 - $85000
