Our client, Chestnut Cafe is a popular, welcoming establishment in Rosehill, New South Wales. They are seeking an experienced and creative Chef to join its team. Known for its warm atmosphere and excellent service, the cafe is a favourite among locals and visitors alike. They offer a diverse menu of breakfast, lunch, and specialty coffee options, catering to a wide range of tastes and dietary preferences. The successful candidate will be working closely with management to design and deliver a menu that delights their customers. The annual salary for this job is $74,000 plus superannuation.
The responsibilities include:
• Planning and developing menus, including estimating food and labour costs, and managing the ordering of food supplies.
• Overseeing the quality of dishes throughout all stages of preparation, cooking, and presentation.
• Collaborating with managers, dietitians, and both kitchen and wait staff to address any food preparation issues or concerns.
• Demonstrating culinary techniques and guidance on cooking procedures to the kitchen team.
• Taking a hands-on approach to preparing and cooking a variety of dishes.
• Ensuring thorough adherence to hygiene and food safety regulations, and educating the team on best practices.
• Selecting and training kitchen staff as required.
• Managing the freezing and preservation of foods when necessary.
• Managing inventory levels to ensure efficient use of ingredients and minimising food wastage.
• Creating daily or weekly specials to keep the menu fresh and engaging for regular customers.
• Ensuring timely and efficient service by coordinating kitchen activities and maintaining clear communication with front-of-house staff.
Qualifications:
• Must hold a Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery or above.
• Should have at least two and a half (2.5) years of work experience in a similar role.
