The Opportunity

Our Port Kembla Manufacturing facility is looking for a Supply and Process Improvement Lead in our Painting and Finishing Department (PFD) within Springhill Works based in Port Kembla. As part of the broader Manufacturing Portfolio, we have painting facilities located in Springhill, Western Sydney and Queensland that deliver a variety of products, innovative solutions and services to our export and domestic customers.

As a supplier of premium product to our customers and as a key part of the value chain, it's critical our processes and supply of materials to the department is effective and robust.  In this role, you'll be responsible for ensuring paint and chemical stock is ready in the right quantity at the right time to deliver seamless and uninterrupted production. Interacting with a broad cross section of the department (from operation teams, leaders, technologists and supply chain to name a few!) you'll be known for your dependability and reliability, consistently delivering a solid outcome, playing your part in delivering operational outcomes.   

It's an ideal time to join our Painting and Finishing department, we have a close knit and supportive team who are truly invested in seeing each other succeed.  You'll be working closely with these colleagues across your day-to-day, and excitingly, leveraging off each other's skillsets as you explore ideas for a sustainable future with a focus on throughput, quality and cost reduction.   

This role works Monday - Friday and is permanent full-time role is offering a competitive salary and you’ll also participate in the company incentive program and further career development and progression within BlueScope.

What Will You Do?

Taking a proactive approach with a high sense of accountability to task, you'll: 

  • provide the key link between the Operations and the Production Planning and Scheduling Teams to ensure continued supply 
  • successfully build and maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders and external partners
  • continually guide and recommend solutions when issues and new challenges arise
  • explore opportunities for process improvements across the department, making recommendations  

More About You

With an eye for detail to all that you do, you'll also have:  

  • a degree in materials science, engineering or similarly related discipline or an equivalent TAFE qualification in this area of study and/or experience with inventory management, planning and supply chains
  • strong analytical skills and able to manipulate data to derive insights 
  • developed communication and influencing skills - building constructive and effective relationships
  • a commitment to the safety and wellbeing of yourself and others
