JK Speech and Health Services Position Description: We are looking for a qualified and compassionate Behavioral Therapist to join our team dedicated to supporting children with special needs and developmental challenges. This role focuses on designing and implementing therapeutic and behavioral intervention plans to help children develop functional skills, eliminate maladaptive behaviors, and foster socially acceptable behaviors. Through art, behavioral modification, and exercise, you will support each child's unique journey towards greater independence and social interaction. BenefitsTask & Responsibilities Key Responsibilities: Design and implement behavioral intervention strategies tailored to each client's needs, emphasising skill development, behavior reduction, and social integration. Integrate empirical research and developmental theories to continually improve therapeutic approaches and support strategies for children with various disabilities. Engage clients in reflective exercises and discussions to strengthen family relationships, with a focus on understanding emotional and cognitive patterns. Lead team professional development workshops on topics like behavioural data management, self-regulation techniques, and understanding functions of behavior. Collaborate with schools and educational staff to address in-school challenges, including conducting observations and providing guidance. Prepare comprehensive reports to document client progress and outline therapeutic goals, including NDIS funding, review reports, and progress reports. Collect data from parents and schools to assess cognitive, behavioural, and emotional progress and difficulties among clients. Facilitate individual and group social skills sessions to enhance client interactions and social skills. Partner with caregivers to assess skill deficits in children with special needs and establish future developmental goals. Qualification & Experience Skills and Experience Required: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Behavioral Science, Psychology, Social Work, or related field. Proven experience working with children with special needs, particularly in behavior management and therapeutic interventions. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to work effectively with children, families, educators, and multidisciplinary teams. Ability to conduct both individual and group therapy sessions and maintain comprehensive documentation on client progress.
