Subject areas within their curriculum include mathematics, English, science, technology, humanities and social science, arts, health and physical education. Primary School Teachers use a variety of effective techniques and technologies to engage students with the learning process according to their age, level of ability and individual needs. They encourage the intellectual and emotional growth of children including reasoning and problem-solving skills, creativity and self-expression. Primary School Teachers work collaboratively with leadership, specialist and support staff including the school Principal, Special Education Teachers, Guidance Officers, Teacher Librarians and Teacher Aides. If required, Primary School Teachers may also interact with other professionals such as Social Welfare Officers, Therapists, or Disability Officers to assist students who have special needs. BenefitsTask & Responsibilities Primary School Teachers are required to perform the following range of tasks: • Prepare daily and long-term lesson plans according to curriculum guidelines. • Teach a full range of subject areas. • Arrange and manage class room resources. • Develop children’s interests, abilities and coordination using a variety of creative activities including art, games, sport and music. • Maintain productive working habits and discipline in the classroom. • Responsible for setting up classrooms as required for each subject, and cleaning up at end of lessons. • Supervise students throughout the day, both in the classroom and outside during breaks. • Assess and evaluate students’ educational progress and abilities. • Monitor students’ emotional and social well-being. • Set and conduct exams and assignments, mark papers, and prepare student reports. • Attend staff meetings, House meetings, Assembly, and staff development days. • Attend Parent evenings and Open Days • Discuss students’ progress with parents and guardians, administrators and other professionals as necessary. • Organise, attend and supervise school activities such as excursions, school concerts and performances, art exhibitions, fundraising functions, camps, sporting events and presentations. • Undertake sufficient professional development training to maintain NESA accreditation. Qualification & Experience Genuine enthusiasm and passion for the profession, and a strong commitment to high quality care is necessary. You will have a relevant qualification, relevant experience and current teaching accreditation.
