Job Purpose:
Work closely with cross functional engineering teams and stakeholders in the design, production, repair, debugging, testing, and commissioning of our world leading software defined autonomous electric vehicles.
Key Accountabilities / Responsibilities:
Liaise closely with cross functional engineering teams, technicians, and program management to help deliver key technical programs to meet the needs of the business. Participate actively in the delivery of significant vehicle level electrical engineering deployment, debugging, testing and commissioning processes along with design improvement as appropriate.
Duties:
• Maintain vehicle level schematics.
• Vehicle level troubleshooting, root cause analysis and commissioning/signoff.
• Electronic Integration of supplier components into Applied EV’s electrical system.
• Liaise with internal cross functional teams to facilitate issue resolution.
• Supplier management as appropriate
• Support the bring up of the complete vehicle electrical system.
• Design of test rigs/harnesses for testing purposes.
Skills/ Qualifications and Experience:
The ideal candidate will have / bring:
• An engineering degree in Control and Automation Engineering (preferably) or Electrical Engineering, or equivalent.
• 5+ years’ experience in a technical role in automotive technology innovation, with significant exposure to autonomous vehicle technology, including testing and calibration.
• Proficiency in the following technologies and tools relating to design, modelling and testing:
Simulink, ASCET, MATLAB, Python, C/C++ and VBA.
Siemens NX and Siemens Capital, Altium, SolidWorks and SW Electrical.
JIRA and Agile Methodologies.
• Proven experience in electrical design and development, with a strong focus on vehicle electrical harness design and integration using Siemens Capital Software.
• Demonstrated expertise in creating and managing electrical components libraries, schematic design, and implementing interface control documents for compliance and reliability in automotive systems.
• An understanding of electric vehicle systems, including vehicle-level control strategies, high reliability Vehicle Control Units (VCUs), telematics, communications via network standards, and CAN Bus.
• Experience in using a range of electronic test equipment in your field of work.
• Proficiency in scripting languages (e.g., Python, VBA) for automating testing processes and data analysis, with a track record of improving accuracy and reducing processing times.
• Diligence in design testing and validation.
• Great interpersonal and communication skills.
Other Useful Experience:
• Experience with High Voltage Systems.
• Embedded software.
• Technical experience related to electronic systems at a component, sub-system and system level.
• An ability to analyse test results, highlight abnormalities and present outcomes to an audience with a range of technical expertise.
• Cross functional knowledge across the disciplines of electronics, mechatronics, and software.
• Experienced with Microsoft Office suite.
• Strong written and oral communication skills
