As part of our dedication to maintaining optimal farm operations, we are seeking an Electrical Engineering Technician ( Farms) to support our piggery units in Tailem Bend, South Australia. This is a full-time permanent opportunity based with a requirement to travel to other piggery sites in South Australia.

About the role:
Our farms depend on functional and reliable electrical engineering control systems at all times to ensure farms are operational, safe, and in service at all times – 24/7 and 365 days per year to support positive animal welfare outcomes, optimal environmental conditions and sustained and efficient production.
The Electrical Engineering Technician (Farms) will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, modification, and repair of electrical engineering control systems, essential for water supply, feeding, ventilation, heating, and other critical environmental controls at our piggery farms. This role plays a key part in ensuring the continuous functionality and reliability of our control systems to support animal welfare, production efficiency, and safe working conditions.
Key Responsibilities:
· Perform maintenance, repairs, and upgrades on electrical systems and control equipment at the piggery farm, including water supply/drippers, feed systems, and environmental controls.
· Ensure system uptime through effective preventative maintenance and timely repairs.
· Collaborate with the Piggery Unit Manager to schedule maintenance and upgrades.
· Conduct reactive and breakdown maintenance as required.
· Examine and test electrical equipment and control systems to diagnose faults, performing adjustments, repairs, and replacements of defective parts.
· Disassemble, recondition, and re-install electrical assemblies, components, tools, and hydraulic systems.
· Monitor product flow and adherence to specifications at various production stages.
· Develop a thorough understanding of all automated control systems in the farm production facility (e.g., dry sow, breeding, farrowing, weaning, and grower units).
· Identify improvement opportunities for quality, cost, and efficiency by understanding facility operations.
· Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities using work orders and logs.
· Estimate maintenance costs for equipment and facilities.
· Conduct and document tests to support environmental controls and the production process.
· Install, upgrade, modify, and calibrate electrical systems and control equipment.
· Uphold quality standards for all control systems with a focus on continuous improvement.
· Report non-compliances that could affect safety or system integrity.
· Coordinate electrical engineering projects and ensure new or reconditioned parts meet quality standards.
· Inspect designs and finished products for compliance with specifications.
· Conduct workshop functions, including refurbishment, reconditioning, repairs, and PLC control maintenance.
· Identify problems and non-conformities, offering cost-effective solutions.
· Implement a process for purchasing spare parts, ensuring cost efficiency.
· Actively participate in Work Health and Safety initiatives across the site.
· Perform additional duties as requested within your expertise.

Qualifications and Experience:
· Minimum Diploma (or higher) level qualification in industrial technology, electrical engineering, or similar qualification with electrical or mechanical background ;
· Minimum 3 years relevant and related work experience with electrical engineering and control systems;
· Demonstrated safety leadership in the past and will strive to maintain a safe and healthy workplace;
· Experience working in a farming environment, with exposure in intensive animal production an advantage;
· Demonstrated expertise in the hands-on delivery of both scheduled and emergency maintenance;
· Sound knowledge of Microsoft Office programs including Outlook, Word and Excel an advantage;
· Capability to assist with and develop yearly budget planning including shed and equipment upgrades.
