Role Summary
The Shack Cafe & Pizzeria is seeking a talented and motivated Chef to join our team, specializing in creating high-quality dishes that elevate the dining experience. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing, cooking, and presenting a variety of meals, maintaining high food standards, and working collaboratively to support the daily operations of our kitchen. This role requires creativity, efficiency, and a commitment to food safety and customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
Food Preparation and Cooking: Prepare and cook a diverse range of dishes, focusing on high-quality ingredients and presentation standards.
Menu Planning and Development: Collaborate with the team to design new menu items and seasonal specials that align with The Shack’s offerings, maintaining consistency in flavor and presentation.
Inventory and Stock Management: Monitor stock levels, manage inventory, and place orders to ensure the availability of fresh ingredients.
Quality Control: Ensure all dishes meet the cafe's standards for taste, presentation, and quality. Inspect ingredients and maintain food storage standards.
Food Safety and Cleanliness: Follow food safety and sanitation protocols, ensuring compliance with health regulations. Maintain a clean and organized kitchen environment.
Team Collaboration and Supervision: Work closely with kitchen staff, providing guidance and training to junior cooks and kitchen hands as needed.
Customer Satisfaction: Address and accommodate special dietary requests, ensure customer satisfaction, and handle any complaints professionally.
Cost Control and Waste Management: Implement efficient cooking methods to minimize waste and manage food costs effectively.
Requirements:
Australian Citizens and Permanent Residents are encouraged to apply.
Diploma of Hospitality as well as Certificate III & IV in Commercial Cookery.
At least 1 year of experience working in a commercial kitchen or equivalent setting.
Proficient in various cooking techniques and able to work with a range of ingredients.
Strong understanding of food safety and hygiene standards.
Ability to work efficiently under pressure and in a fast-paced environment.
Good organizational and time-management skills.
Effective communication skills for team collaboration and customer interactions.
