Role Overview:
Dixie Park Dairying is a larger scale business milking 750 cows in Southwest Victoria. We are seeking a knowledgeable and motivated Dairy Farmer with excellent communication and time management skills. The ideal candidate should be able to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.
Key Responsibilities:
Manage pastures effectively, coordinating grazing rotations to optimize pasture recovery
Breed and raise cattle for dairy production
Monitor and manage the health and welfare of livestock
Conduct general administrative duties
Farm general maintenance tasks
Oversee various farm operations, including pen, shed, and cage upkeep, pest and weed control, fertilization to maintain adequate nutritional levels, and fodder cultivation
This full-time position may require weekend work and flexibility for occasional unexpected hours.
Additional Skills Preferred:
Strong written and verbal communication
Advanced knowledge in pasture management, animal nutrition, dairy production, and operation of tractors
Familiarity with relevant computer programs/software is advantageous
Skills and Experience Required:
A Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture or equivalent qualification
Minimum of 2 years of recent relevant experience
