About The Client

Mezbaan is a popular restaurant in Truganina in VIC that serves authentic Indian cuisine meals. They are currently looking for an experienced Tandoor Chef to join their expanding team.




The Role

This is a full time role with an annual salary set between A$74000 – A$78000 depending on experience plus superannuation.







The Responsibilities

Your tasks at the restaurant will consist of:

Prepare tandoori items, such as naan bread, kulcha of different varieties, chicken tikka, lamb chops, and other vegetarian and non-vegetarian dishes in a tandoor oven.

Ensure that all tandoori items are prepared according to recipes and company standards.

Maintain a clean and organized tandoor oven area and adhere to food safety and sanitation regulations.

Monitor and maintain inventory of tandoori ingredients and supplies.

Assist with menu planning and cost control measures related to tandoori items.

Train and supervise assistant chefs and kitchen staff in tandoori cooking techniques.

Test new tandoori recipes and make adjustments as needed to ensure consistent quality and taste.

Maintain a positive and professional relationship with customers and respond to customer requests and inquiries related to tandoori items.

Attend training and development programs to improve knowledge and skills in tandoori cooking techniques and customer service.

Assist with other kitchen duties as assigned.















The Requirements:



To be considered for the position you must meet the following requirements:



Relevant qualifications in cookery or hospitality

Minimum 1.5 – 2 years experience as Tandoor Chef

Minimum 1.5 - 2 years of experience in tandoori cooking is essential

Minimum 1.5 – 2 years of experience in menu planning

Able to prepare Indian sauces and Tandoori rub mix from scratch

Passion for great food and presentation

Understanding of, and commitment to, food safety

Experience in kitchen operations and in managing a team

Experience in training kitchen staff

Ability to work well under pressure

Goods ordering and menu costing

Stock control and wastage minimization

Able to work to a flexible roster includes weekends
