Veggie Vista, based in Clarkefield VIC, is a mixed farm grower but mainly bulk producer of mushrooms which is very popular, and in high demand.
The business is planning to have more mushrooms rooms with latest Hi-tech technology to help with carbon footprint and environment sustainability. Due to coming expansion in business, there is a vacancy for a Mixed crop farmer to join our team.
Applicant should have knowledge in growing of different veggie types, harvesting and maintaining proper climate controls for storage so as to keep produce as fresh as possible for sale within accepted deadlines for food storage.
Main Tasks:
• Co-ordinates production and marketing of crops, from soil preparation through to harvest, taking into account environmental and market factors
• Plants seeds, seedlings and bulbs, as well as grafting new varieties to root stocks
• Maintains crop production by cultivating, de-budding and pruning, as well as maintaining optimal growing conditions
• Conducts farming operations, such as collecting, storing, grading and packaging produce, and organising the sale, purchase and dispatch of produce
• Oversees general farming activities such as fertilising and the control of pests and weeds
• Maintains farm buildings, fences, equipment and water supply systems
• Maintains and evaluates records of farming activities, monitoring market activity, and planning crop preparation and production to meet contract requirements and market demand
• Manages business capital including budgeting, taxation, debt and loan management
• Selects, trains and supervises especially available Australian staff and contractors to the health and safety of the work areas
Eligibility Criteria:
• Bachelor degree or higher qualification.
• AQF Certificate III in Horticulture with five years or more experience.
• Or at least five years of relevant experience may substitute for the formal qualification.
• You must have proper full working rights in Australia.
Other Skills:
• Any knowledge in IT will be helpful as the business will move to run their operations in the IT space for better control of production and minimum wastage.
• Time management
Salary - $75,000-$85,000 plus super
