Pullen’s Honey and Pollination Services is a small family-owned business operating in regional NSW. We are seeking an experienced apiarist to join our team and help our business to grow. Pullens’ Honey manages over 1,000 hives producing high quality natural honey that is used both for food, skin and body products and in the production of beeswax candles. In addition, we provide pollination services for a wide variety of crops including almonds, cherries, plums, pears, apricots and canola.
Role
You will be working alongside our Manager in overseeing the apiary, breeding, raising and maintaining bees for maximum honey production and pollination outcomes.
Duties include but not limited to
• Breeding and raising bees for the production of honey and pollinating crops
• Monitoring and maintaining the health and condition of the bees
• Managing pests and diseases accordingly
• Managing the flowering lifecycle to ensure key honey bearing flora is appropriately utilised
• Manage the pollination needs of the horticulture crops
• Manage the risks associated with pesticide use
• Manage the nutritional inputs from targeted flowering events and maximize colony populations
• Other duties are directed
Essential Criteria, Skills and Experience
• Minimum 5 years’ experience in a similar role
• Proven skill in breeding, raising and maintaining bees
