Merchant Coffee Roasters is seeking a hardworking, energetic, and passionate Chef to join our talented kitchen team. We are a Specialty Coffee Roaster with two cafés located in Mansfield. We take pride in providing excellent customer service, our passion for great food and coffee, and a fun, inclusive dining experience for our customers. Our ideal candidate is a creative professional eager to help craft seasonal menus and gourmet meals.

Tasks & Responsibilities:
? Manage the kitchen effectively and efficiently in line with company standards.
? Ensure the kitchen, food preparation areas, and storage meet Australian food safety, health, and hygiene standards.
? Maintain adequate supplies at cooking stations and properly store all food and other items.
? Monitor stock levels to reduce waste and maintain profit margins.
? Communicate effectively with team members to ensure smooth kitchen operations and maintain a friendly, cooperative work environment.
? Interact positively and professionally with coworkers and customers.
? Demonstrate techniques and guide kitchen staff through cooking procedures.
? Collaborate with the Head Chef to plan and develop recipes and menus, considering seasonal ingredients and customer demand.
? Discuss food preparation and dietary requirements with managers, the Head Chef, and kitchen and waiting staff.
? Optimize cooking processes to ensure speed and quality.
? Work under pressure to deliver quality food on time.
? Ensure ingredient quality, prepare and cook food, and present dishes at a high standard.
? Complete other tasks as required.

Skills & Experience:
? Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery or equivalent qualification. Higher relevant trade qualifications are a plus.
? Minimum of 2 years of relevant work experience.
? Strong plating skills and proficiency in various cooking methods, ingredients, equipment, and processes.
? Attention to detail and knowledge of best cooking practices.
? Understanding of Food Safety Standards and industry regulations.
? Passionate team player with a friendly, positive attitude.
? Ability to source and select quality ingredients.
? Strong communication skills, teamwork abilities, and the ability to multitask under pressure.
? Excellent planning and organizational skills.
? Exceptional customer service skills.
? Must be flexible to work on weekdays and weekends.
