Why you will love this opportunity as Platform Engineer at Civica

As our business continues to scale globally, (we’ve recently been acquired by Blackstone) it's an opportunity for a well established Platform Engineer to define and set the standard for our platform and Devops offerings at Civica. You'll have the opportunity to be one of our resident Docker specialists, utilising your previous experience to design and manage containerised applications.

Joining a newly formed team as a self-starter, you will be responsible designing, building, and maintaining Civica’s cloud-based platform and building our internal developer platform, an exciting project that we’re currently undertaking from the ground up. You'll have the opportunity to work with cutting edge technology - in a globally aligned team going through an exciting time of scale.

You will work closely with the whole Platform team and you will collaborate with other business units and be responsible for building platform capability to be able to deliver best practice. You will be actively involved in improving older tech stacks & platforms utilizing modern approaches and influencing company-wide architecture.

What you will do to be successful in this role

  • Bring your knowledge & expertise when it comes to designing & managing containerised applications using Docker - ensuring scalability & reliability of applications (integration & deployment - as well as optimising containers for performance)
  • Be one of our highly regarded Docker go to experts - you'll effectively manage Docker images, security standards and performance issues 
  • Bring your system design knowledge and successfully deploy infrastructure stacks for Platform-related services as they are built using Terraform and Ansible
  • Know the ins and outs of Microsoft Azure, AWS, Kubernetes, Docker, CI/CD, Scripting & Automation, Linux Administration
  • A strong understanding of Windows administration, TCP/IP networking, migration from VM-based to cloud-native architectures.
  • Proficiency in programming languages like Python or Go are highly preferred
  • Good experience with scripting - Bash, powershell, etc
  • Work on maintaining high-performance, reliable, secure, and scalable systems for both internal and external use.
  • Solve complex technical problems and help teams to improve older platforms utilizing modern approaches
  • Good to have experience in building and deploying new features and upgrades to the Kubernetes cluster.
