Job Summary:
The Transport Company Manager will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the company's logistics and transportation services. This position requires strong leadership skills and the ability to manage complex logistics, maintain optimal fleet performance, and ensure customer satisfaction through on-time deliveries. The successful candidate will also focus on continuous improvement and cost-effective service delivery.
Key Responsibilities:
Operations Management: Oversee daily transportation activities including dispatching, routing, and tracking of the fleet to ensure timely and efficient deliveries.
Team Leadership: Manage and lead a team of drivers, warehouse staff, and logistics coordinators to achieve operational goals. Ensure all team members are trained and compliant with company standards.
Customer Relations: Maintain strong relationships with clients by understanding their needs and providing customized transportation and logistics solutions.
Fleet Management: Ensure that the fleet of trucks is well-maintained and fully operational. Monitor performance metrics and address any inefficiencies in vehicle utilization.
Logistics Planning: Develop and implement strategies for optimizing route planning, load management, and fuel efficiency to reduce costs while maintaining high service standards.
Safety & Compliance: Ensure that all transport operations comply with relevant legal, safety, and environmental regulations, including vehicle safety standards, driver hours, and load limits.
Budget & Cost Management: Manage the financial aspects of transportation operations, including budgeting, cost control, and contract negotiation to maximize profitability.
Consulting & Strategic Planning: Work closely with the senior management team to develop and execute long-term strategies for growth and expansion in South Australia’s transport sector.
Warehousing & Storage: Coordinate with the warehousing and storage team to ensure goods are processed, stored, and dispatched according to the client's requirements.
Freight Services: Manage end-to-end overland, ocean, and air freight services, ensuring reliable and efficient movement of goods both domestically and internationally.
Key Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree or higher in Logistics, Transportation, Business Management, or a related field.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar managerial role within the trucking or logistics industry.
Strong leadership and team management abilities.
Proven experience in logistics operations, route optimization, and fleet management.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to manage client relationships and team dynamics.
Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure.
Knowledge of industry regulations, including safety, environmental, and compliance standards.
Ability to handle budgeting, financial management, and cost control.
