They now seek an experienced Painting Trades Person to join their team to handle a variety of painting projects for residential and commercial properties.
The Role
This is a full time salary with an annual salary set at $73,500 - $80,000, depending on experience plus superannuation.
Responsibilities
Apply coats of paint, varnish, stain, enamel, or lacquer to decorate as well as protect interior or exterior surfaces,
Read blueprints/instructions and examining surfaces to determine the kind and amount of work necessary.
Read work order or receive instructions from supervisor/homeowner regarding painting
Smooth surfaces, using sandpaper, brushes, or steel wool and additionally remove old paint from surfaces, using paint remover, scraper, wire brush, or blowtorch to prepare surfaces for painting
Make on-site preparations such as building scaffolding, covering fixtures etc
Fill nail holes, cracks and joints with appropriate material caulk, putty, plaster
Select premixed paints, or mixes required portions of pigment, oil for required colour
Paint surfaces according to instructions with various tools like brushes, spray gun and paint rollers
Thinning drying substances to prepare paint that matches specified colours
Remove fixtures, like pictures, electric switchcovers, from walls prior to painting, using screwdriver
Spread drop cloths over floors as well as room furnishings, and also cover surfaces, like baseboards, door frames and windows to protect surfaces during painting
Create special effects like wood grain, marble, brick, or tile effects by applying paint with cloth, brush, sponge, or fingers to
Put up scaffolding or setting up ladders to perform tasks above ground level
Wash surfaces prior to painting with mildew remover, using brush
Apply wallpaper fabrics
Estimating costs involved and negotiating prices
Requirements
AQF Certificate III relevant qualifications
Relevant experience and skillset to perform aforementioned duties
At least 1-2 years’ experience in painting role in the painting and decorating industry
At least 1-2 years’ painting experience in a professional and commercial setting
At least 1-2 years’ experience in a wide range of painting techniques, including faux finishes, marbling, graining, and fresco
At least 1-2 years’ experience in chemical stripping, abrasive blasting, and power washing techniques for surface preparation
Construction Induction Card
Good understanding of colour theory and various finish types
Physical dexterity to climb ladders, carry heavy equipment and to stand for long periods of time
Additional tickets, EWP and relevant licenses will be looked upon favourably
Have at least one contactable work referee
