BenefitsTask & Responsibilities MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES: Plan and Organise Food Preparation Prepare, Cook, and Present Food Operate and Maintain Kitchen Equipment Monitor and Manage Food Quality Food Safety and Hygiene Supervise and Train Junior Staff Cater to Special Dietary Requirements Assist in Stock Control and Inventory Management Work Collaboratively with Kitchen and Service Staff MAIN TASKS: Discuss menus items and specials with chefs and management. Estimate food requirements and order or purchase ingredients as needed. Prepare and cook a variety of food items, including meats, seafood, vegetables, desserts, and other dishes, in accordance with menu specifications. Ensure food is cooked in the correct quantity, quality, and timing to meet customer demand. Present food in a visually appealing and appetising manner. Use various kitchen equipment such as ovens, grills, fryers, and mixers efficiently and safely. Maintain kitchen equipment in clean, safe, and working order, and report any maintenance issues. Monitor and regulate stock levels, ensuring freshness and minimising waste. Check the quality of raw and cooked food products to ensure standards are met. Follow food safety and hygiene regulations to prevent contamination and ensure a clean work environment. Store food in designated containers, and manage food rotation systems to prevent spoilage. Clean and sanitise kitchen areas, including utensils and equipment. Oversee kitchen assistants, apprentices, and junior cooks, providing guidance and training where necessary. Monitor kitchen operations and delegate tasks to ensure smooth workflow during busy periods. Modify menu items to accommodate special dietary requirements, including vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, and other specific customer needs. Ensure all ingredients used in meals are suitable for customers with food allergies or intolerances. Assist in stock control and inventory management, ensuring adequate supplies of ingredients and maintaining cost control. Keep records of food purchases, storage, and usage. Coordinate with waitstaff and kitchen team to ensure timely service and customer satisfaction. Provide input on kitchen workflow improvements and menu development, offering creative ideas and cost-effective options. Qualification & Experience Diploma level qualification + 2 years work experience. Alternatively, 3 years work experience may be considered in lieu of the above.
