Job Description:
Leaf Café & Co Bondi Junction is seeking an experienced and skilled full-time Chef to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of the kitchen, preparing high-quality dishes in line with the café's established recipes and standards, and overseeing kitchen staff to maintain excellence in food preparation, presentation, and safety.
Key Responsibilities:
Monitor the assembly of the workstation for each meal preparation shift, including food preparation, cleaning, and the preparation of food storage areas and refrigerators.
Prepare and cook a wide range of menu items, including breakfast, lunch, dinner, and specialty dishes, in line with the café’s established recipes and presentation standards.
Oversee food plating and garnishing, ensuring consistency and artistic presentation in every dish.
Enforce and follow OH&S, HACCP, and Safe Food Control procedures, ensuring sanitation and cleanliness, and monitoring workstations and staff for adherence to these procedures.
Collaborate closely with the Head Chef (or franchisee) to develop, refine, and adjust the menu to meet customer demand and incorporate seasonal changes.
Provide on-the-job training to kitchen staff, enhancing team performance and preparing them for potential career advancement.
Train and supervise kitchen assistants, ensuring all staff adhere to food safety guidelines and best practices.
Maintain food costs at reasonable levels without compromising quality or standards.
Oversee the storage and disposal of overproduction food items according to organizational regulations and rules.
Demonstrate the correct operation of all kitchen equipment to staff, testing equipment to ensure the accuracy of temperature gauges, heating or cooling elements, and other operational standards.
Requirements:
Australian Citizens and Permanent Residents are encouraged to apply.
Minimum Certificate IV in commercial cookery.
Minimum 2 years working experience working as a chef, preferably in a fast-paced café or restaurant environment.
Strong knowledge of food safety standards, kitchen operations, and inventory management.
Ability to work efficiently under pressure while maintaining attention to detail and presentation quality.
Excellent teamwork and communication skills to collaborate with the kitchen and front-of-house teams.
Flexibility to work shifts, including weekends and public holidays.
