As a Venue Leader you will provide a service of excellence including coordinating and supporting the efficient operation of Venues within Sunbury and surrounding suburbs including Hume Global Learning Centre (HGLC) - Sunbury.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Responsible for the co-ordination and smooth running of events at facilities within Sunbury and surrounding suburbs, liaising with all staff regarding the set up and pack down of hireable spaces.
  • Develop and implement a Venue Strategic and Operational Plan to deliver a consistent, high quality, accessible facility and services that meet the priorities of the local community.
  • Oversee the delivery of a comprehensive range of conference and community related services including venue promotion, conference equipment and the supervision of the preparation of conference facilities.
  • Assist with the appropriate liaison of suppliers and contractors for the facilities including caterers, laundry suppliers, builders, AV Technicians etc.
  • Provide support and assist as required with security arrangements for the facilities to help ensure security matters are dealt with appropriately and that the senior leadership team are kept informed.
  • Ensure any purchases of equipment or maintenance work for the facilities are necessary / appropriate, fall within allocated budgets and are made in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Assist with the provision of specialist advice to hirers and users regarding booking of facilities.
  • Assess bookings for issues that should be raised with Team Leader Venues and Operations.
  • Some evening and weekend work may be required especially for high level events including functions held at facilities outside Sunbury.

The skills and experience you’ll bring to the role:

  • Tertiary qualifications in venue management or related discipline with experience in facility management or substantial relevant experience in operations and facility management with lesser formal qualifications.
  • Experience in managing facilities including maintenance of facilities, liaising with contractors / suppliers and creating a positive experience for clients.
  • High level written and verbal communication skills with an ability to deal with difficult customers and present a positive council image.
  • Ability and experience in event supervision for functions including assigning tasks to staff, stock management, client liaison and supplier management to ensure a successful event.
  • Experience in providing a high level of customer service to broad range of people from diverse backgrounds and cultures.
  • Demonstrated skills in managing time, setting priorities and managing a number of tasks or projects simultaneously, to achieve a broad range of outcomes with minimal direction.
  • Current Victorian Driver’s Licence.
