Outcomex Computer Network and Systems Engineers are responsible for installing, maintaining and supporting computer communication networks within a company or between organizations. The role also plans, develops, deploys, tests and optimises network and system services, taking responsibility for configuration management and overall operational readiness of network systems, especially environments with multiple operating systems and configurations, and provides troubleshooting and fault-finding services for network problems.
The Computer Network and Systems Engineer’s goal is to ensure the smooth operation of communication networks in order to provide maximum performance and availability for their users.
Typical work activities usually include the following:
Determines software and hardware requirements to provide solutions to problems
Adapts existing programs to meet users' requirements
Answers queries on software and hardware problems
Analysing, developing, interpreting and evaluating complex system design and
architecture specifications, data models and diagrams in the development,
configuration and integration of computer systems
Installs and downloads appropriate software
Ensures efficient use of applications and equipment
Researching, analysing, evaluating and monitoring network infrastructure to ensure
Assessing and recommending improvements to network operations and integrated
hardware, software, communications and operating systems
networks are configured to operate at optimal performance
Intensive training courses to ensure that an Outcomex Support Technician is familiar with Outcomex client environments.
Intensive training across Outcomex Go to Market technologies such as IP Telephony, Call Centre, Security, LAN/WAN Switching, Routing, Wireless and Video based technologies
Providing specialist skills in supporting and troubleshooting network problems and emergencies
Installing, supporting and maintaining existing and new network solutions across many different Outcomex customers.
Network support and monitoring network usage
Design and consulting to customers regarding industry best practice design principles.
QOS design, deployment and troubleshooting
LAN/WAN design and Layer 2 architecture deployment with Spanning Tree and similar protocols.
Troubleshooting customer networks
Undertaking routine preventative measures and implementing, maintaining and monitoring network security, particularly if the network connects to the internet;
