We are seeking an Experienced cook with approx. 3rd year app skill level to cook F/T in a production kitchen.. Full time position available. Monday to Thursday 8.30am to 5pm, Friday 7am to 1.30pm. Large volume cooking in 500ltr and 250ltr kettles. Full training provided. Starting salary $55kp/a, neg after training period. Immediate start.
The Role
Food Preparation: Preparing ingredients for cooking, which involves tasks like chopping vegetables, marinating meats, and measuring ingredients.
Cooking: Operating cooking equipment such as ovens, stoves, grills, and fryers to prepare dishes according to recipes or menu specifications. This includes frying, baking, grilling, and other cooking techniques.
Quality Control: Ensuring that dishes meet the establishment’s quality standards in terms of taste, presentation, and portion size.
Sanitation and Safety: Following proper food safety and hygiene practices to prevent contamination. This includes keeping work areas clean, storing food properly, and adhering to health regulations.
Inventory Management: Keeping track of ingredients and supplies, including managing stock levels, and assisting with ordering as needed.
Menu Development: In some cases, cooks may contribute to menu planning or development, offering ideas for new dishes or modifications based on customer feedback.
Team Collaboration: Working effectively with other kitchen staff, such as sous chefs, line cooks, and dishwashers, to ensure smooth kitchen operations.
