SUMMARY:

Our client, Gepetto's Hahndorf, is seeking to add a talented Cook to their team. Nestled in the scenic Adelaide Hills, Gepetto’s is known for offering an authentic Italian dining experience, inspired by the culinary traditions of Italy and utilising the finest local ingredients. With a reputation for delivering exceptional service and flavours, the restaurant provides a unique opportunity for a skilled cook to create unforgettable Italian dishes for its esteemed guests.

The typical job responsibilities will include, but are not limited to the following:

- Prepare and cook high-quality Italian dishes to established recipes.
- Ensure foodstuffs are examined to guarantee quality before preparation.
- Regulate oven, grill, and other cooking equipment temperatures for optimal results.
- Prepare food to meet special dietary requirements as requested.
- Season dishes during cooking to maintain authentic Italian flavours.
- Portion food, plate, and garnish for service to customers.
- Store ingredients and prepared food in temperature-controlled environments.
- Plan menus in the absence of the chef and estimate food requirements.
- Train and guide other kitchen staff and apprentices as needed.
- Maintain cleanliness and hygiene standards in all kitchen areas.
- Assist with ordering and maintaining stock of fresh ingredients.
- Manage kitchen operations when the chef is unavailable.
- Prepare pizza, risotto, pasta, and seafood dishes as a speciality.
- Ensure efficient time management and organisation within the kitchen.

Applicants must meet the following minimum requirements to be considered for the role:

- Minimum 2 years’ experience as a cook specialising in Italian cuisine.
- Proven ability to work with high-quality, locally sourced ingredients.
- Strong understanding of pizza, risotto, pasta, and seafood preparation.
- Ability to work independently and manage kitchen operations when necessary.
- Familiarity with food safety standards and maintaining hygiene in the kitchen.
- Experience with menu planning and food stock management.
- Capability to train and oversee junior kitchen staff.
