Our respected client, Dream Home Painting and Renovating, is seeking a skilled and dedicated full-time Painter to join their team of professionals. Located in Armstrong Creek, Victoria 3217, Dream Home Painting and Renovating Pty Ltd is a reputable company specialising in residential and commercial painting services. With a commitment to delivering high-quality craftsmanship, and customer satisfaction, and have established themselves as a trusted name in the painting and renovation industry. Their services range from interior and exterior painting to complete home and building renovations, serving a diverse clientele across the region. The primary role of the Painter is to prepare building sites and apply paint to interior and exterior surfaces for a variety of purposes.

The annual salary for this job is $75,000 plus superannuation.

Main responsibilities/duties:

• Work out the quantity of materials needed for the job by taking surface measurements or by looking at job specifications or drawings. Mix and match the appropriate colours.

• Remove old paint by washing, scraping, sanding, or using blowtorches or liquid paint removers and/or smoothing interior and exterior surfaces before painting, varnishing or applying other related materials.

• Paint to the highest standard of workmanship – do surface prep, e.g., place drop sheets to protect areas from dripping paint, and remove fixtures such as pictures, doorknobs, or electric switch covers.

• Prepare surfaces by fixing woodwork, filling, or sealing holes, cracks, and joins and wash them down to remove dust and grease. Fill holes and cracks with caulk, putty, plaster, or other compounds.

• Apply protective (primers or sealers) and decorative coats of paint, varnish and/or other related materials to interior and exterior surfaces of buildings, furniture, equipment, and other structures so the paint will adhere.

• Brush, roll or spray the paints, stains, varnishes, and other finishes.

• Thoroughly clean equipment, paint mixing area and work area.

• Competently erect scaffolding and use apparatus (ladders and planks) to work safely at all heights.

• Identify, safe handling and appropriate disposal of paints, stains, preparatory and undercoating materials, and other hazardous materials.

• Work with a deep understanding of OHS practices and requirements.

Hours of Work:

This role is offered on a full-time basis with the expectation of 38 hours of work each week. Shift hours may vary depending on factors such as business hours and staff availability, and reasonable overtime hours may be required if necessary.

Must have:

• At least two to three (2-3) years of relevant work experience is required.

• A trade qualification (AQF Certificate III in Painting and Trades Worker).

• A vehicle capable of transporting tools and ladders, along with a valid driver’s license, and a red or white card, are mandatory.

• A strong understanding of workplace health and safety regulations and adherence to safe working practices is essential.

• Ability to collaborate effectively with other tradespeople, clients, and third parties to ensure construction sites are managed to the highest standards.

• Capable of working as part of a larger team on major projects, while also being able to independently manage smaller tasks.

• An EWP Yellow Card, Working at Heights (WAH) certificate, High-Risk license, and First Aid qualifications are highly desirable.
