KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Surface Preparation:
Prepare surfaces for painting by cleaning, sanding, filling holes, and removing old paint to ensure a smooth, even surface for application.
Application of Paints and Finishes:
Apply paint, varnishes, stains, and other finishes using brushes, rollers, or spray equipment on both interior and exterior surfaces, ensuring high-quality workmanship.
Material Selection and Mixing:
Select and mix paint or other finishes to meet project specifications and customer preferences, ensuring proper consistency and color matching.
Technical Skills:
Utilize a variety of techniques to achieve specific finishes, including but not limited to marbling, graining, and color washing.
Surface Coating:
Apply protective coatings, such as sealers and primers, to protect surfaces from corrosion and wear.
Compliance and Safety:
Ensure compliance with workplace health and safety regulations by using personal protective equipment (PPE) and maintaining a clean, organized worksite.
Project Management:
Work closely with clients to determine their requirements, provide recommendations on paint types and colors, and ensure timely completion of projects to customer satisfaction.
Team Collaboration:
Collaborate with other tradespeople on larger projects, coordinating tasks to meet deadlines and maintain work quality.
Maintenance and Repairs:
Conduct maintenance work, including repairing cracks or damage to painted surfaces, to ensure surfaces are in optimal condition.
Color Consultation:
Provide color consulting services to clients, offering expert advice on color schemes and finishes to meet aesthetic preferences.
REQUIREMENTS:
Australian Citizens and Permanent Residents are encouraged to apply.
Certificate III in Painting and Decorating.
Minimum 2 years of experience in the role.
Strong attention to detail and ability to achieve precise, high-quality finishes.
Good understanding of different paint types and finishes.
Knowledge of surface preparation techniques and paint application methods.
Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
Excellent communication and customer service skills.
