Job Title: Accountant
Salary: $77,500 per annum + superannuation
Location: Bowen Hills, QLD 4006
Minimum Qualifications:
• CA/CPA or equivalent professional qualification
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance or a related field
• A minimum of two years of Comprehensive experience in an accounting role, particularly in commercial or public practice environments
Key Accountabilities
Financial Reporting & Analysis
• Performing ledger maintenance for a number of companies. This includes transaction processing, recurring routine journal creation, asset accounting, and account reconciliations.
• Ensure timely, accurate preparation of monthly financial reports covering balance sheet, profit and loss, internal management reports and cash flow statements;
• Assist in the Group’s financial reporting obligations, with responsibility for preparation and lodgment of compliant full year and half year consolidated accounts;
• Analytics and insights on clinic and divisional performance and key drivers (of outperformance or underperformance);
• Liaison with external auditors and tax specialists;
• Assisting in covering duties of other accounting and administrative employees during periods of absence;
• Ad hoc queries and analysis to assist management.
Risk Management
• Assist in maintaining reliable control systems;
• Monitor and report on risk issues to the CFO;
• Monitor and inform the CFO of legal issues involving the company or relevant regulatory changes.
Financial Management
• Assist and coordinate yearly budget preparation, maintenance and analysis for the group;
• Ensuring Accounting standards and policies are adhered to;
• Assist with tax compliance for the group (GST, Income Tax, FBT, BAS,etc)
• Ensure clinic expenses adhere to budget guidelines, and work with clinics to ensure budgetary compliance
Treasury and Cash Management
• Assist in managing weekly and monthly cash flow and reserves for the physiotherapy division
• Provide timely and accurate advice to the CFO in respect of cash management
Communication
• Maintain continuous lines of communication, keeping all Key Stakeholders informed of all critical issues
• Promote a culture of continuous quality improvement in the company
Skills and Competencies Required:
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
• Intermediate to advanced Excel skills, including data manipulation and reporting
• High attention to detail and accuracy in financial reporting
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
• Ability to adapt to evolving business needs and take on additional responsibilities
